Car, Mercedes ML 320, has been having problems accelerating. When trying to accelerate it struggles to build speed, makes a loud nose and feels as if its a stick shift and trouble shifting to next gear. I thought it was bad gas and put cleansing agents in hoping to get system cleaned, but just recently I noticed that antifreeze was leaking all over and couldnt find from where. Now it seems to be coming out of hose not attached to anything but the coolant overflow bucket. Before I take it to Benz, need a little help?

On the ML and almost all Mercs you need to get the codes rread first when you get a problem. For about $50 you can get a reader so youhave an idea of whats wrong before you start spending money. ML's have a quite good sensor system so it can narrow things down quite a bit.
In your case it could be a plugged catalytic convertor or a fuel pump problem or even a dirty airfilter dirty maf or cracked hoses. It does pay to find out what the problem is here. A plugged cat from MB will cost more than $800 but and aftermarket one is about $90 same with a maf and so on. Most things are quite easy todiy on a ML and if you order the parts online ( most places have oem parts much much cheaper) then your ML is cheaper to run then a Ford or Chevy. Take it to the dealer/stealer and just tell them to fix it and your wallet is in for a surprise. I own a 320 myself.

From what you descibe I think it is the air mass sensor in the air intake pipe after the aircleaner. try unplugging it and then driving the car, if this make differance to the performance then thats that but it could also be the exhaust thats blocked.

SOURCE: Transmission problem in E230 Benz

What you need to check is the transmission release bearing because if there is a clearance on the release bearing you will encounter this problem and also check the transmission oil.

SOURCE: 320 Ml Mercedes-Benz

Go to advance auto or auto zone and have the do a trouble code read ( it is free).
The plug is located under the drivers side dash to the left of the brake pedal.
Press the esp off button on the dash and see if ithas an effect. on acceleration

Next I would try this it is expensive.
If it feels like it is bogged down when you first start to acceleratewill only creep about 10 to 20mph it may be the mass flow sensor located between the air filter and the throttle body. It has an electrical connection. Sand eats them up and it is a common item about $200.

Have you check the transmission fluid level? It sounds like it is low. You might not have a dipstick in that unit. I'd add at least 2 quarts and test drive it.

SOURCE: Mercedes Benz car will not shift out of park. It

You are putting your foot on the brake before you try to move the shift lever, right?

Most cars have a locking device that prevents the shifter from moving unless the motor is running (key inserted into the wheel lock and on) and the brake petal is depressed.

Hi,

Thanks for using FixYa!

I understand that you are having transmission problems. Sadly there is only one solution with the problems that you have mentioned. You need to have your automatic transmission overhauled.

I hope you get this problem sorted out right away. Have a nice day.
