Humming noise sounds like from the front end. I just replaced wheel hubs and still making noise. The tone of the humming changes with slight on off the gas pedal. I just ordered new front axles thinking it could be bearings in cv joint going bad and they were never replaced. I have 130,000 miles on 2000 durango. Noise tone also changes when turning to the left.

You need to jack up that wheel and spin it by hand, if you hear the similar noise it is most likely a noisy wheel bearing. Also if you have revently driven over loose metal road could be stone lodged in disc assembly. Could also be the wear indicators on the disc pads "telling you" that the pads are nearly worn out.

The CV joint is shot. With the rotation of the hub you shouldn't see any up and down oscillation. That clicking noise you hear is the telltale. You need the CV joint to be rebuilt (or the axle replaced - your call). Do NOT just replace the boot and repack it with new grease - once the joint is audibly clicking, it's ruined and must be replaced. If you put this off too long and the CV joint breaks, you'll coast to the side of the road and won't move again under your own power until a new one is installed.

the ansew i found is replacing the seal around the joint and from both end removing it and cleaning it out i had rocks in mine from going threw water and mud ita a all day deal but a twenty doller fix axle shaft oil seal is all i had to replace

You have a hub/wheel bearing going out. You need to jack up the vehicle on each side. Grab the top and bottom of the wheel and try to move it in/out at the top and bottom. If this does not work then roll the wheel as fast as you can and see if you can hear which one it is. Good Luck.

Hi Becky Your mechanic should be able to find your problem. They will lift your car so your front wheels swing free and shake your front wheels around. The bad part can be found this way. Theres a lot of things this could be. But yes it would be a joint or bearing. Hope this helps you.
