Passengers side power sliding door gets to within about six inches of closing, and then reverses direction and opens. groaning sound heard coming from the door motor. Door will close if I give it some help.
Check the tracks underneath the rear window. My 2007 driver side electric sliding door was out of alignment and began to literally scrape the paint and rubber underneath the main support in the upper track (underneath the rear window). Still have not been able to fix it, as I doubt it is covered by my extended warranty and Have not seen any other people with solutions. Please let me know if there are solutions available.
Update: I found that the sliding Door hindge is a common problem with these models. The only way to fix it was to buy a replacmen hindge at the dealer and replace it myself. There is one or two helpful youtube ideos out there that describes it pretty well and it was not that hard to do it my self with some regular tools. The center hindge wears out just enough to sag a bit and thus causing the door to find resistance somewhere along the track. in my case it was the paint below the rear window. Now I have to fix that before rust sets in.
My 2006 had a closing issue due to a mis-alignment of the rear latch (which is due to the sagging 'center' hinge'). It would get to closing position and try to finish but would re-open 50% of the time. You could push the rear-center part of the door and it would complete the latching process. This was due to the center hinge as Brandon mentioned above. I replaced mine (with assistance of a youtube video) and it works 100% again. Dealer wanted $130 just to diagnose a misaligned latch. Part was $75 and DIY labor. Stress on the motor could come from resistance due to the center hinge, binding in one of the cables, or binding in the center hinge cable due to it's sheathing wearing off. Note, if you lower the window during repair, the door does not slide open completely -- scratched my head on that for awhile when testing my repair.

Could be resistance in one of the tracks, or the motor.
If the motor hits a resistance the door opens in case the resistance is a human.

This may or may not work depending on exactly what is wrong with the door, I cant tell what is wrong without looking at it directly however:
You can try starting with all doors closed and unlocked, keys in hand disconnecting the battery and letting the vehicle sit for 2 min or so, then reconnect the battery. Put the key into the ignition and turn it to the on position but do not start the van. Next press the button to disable the power sliding door for the drivers side, then manually open the door fully, wait 5 seconds, then close it manually fully. Press button the button again to re-enable the power sliding door, then try to use it with the automatic feature either by pulling the handle or using your remote, this may or may not work depending on if the door has somehow become de-initialized (it should work now) however if something is broken inside the door closing mechanism or door closed/open sensors, the door will continue to malfunction.

there is a door lock actuator that has failed, it releases the latches so the door can open. you need to remove the door panel. unbolt the window and tape it as to hold the window up then remove the window regulator assembley then unbolt the lock actuator from the back side.

You have a sticking fuel door lock-device. Look to see if the tab is in the down position.

Try this.....Find the latch on the door, stick your finger in the hole, lift up and pull the door handle at the same time, the inside latch mechanism should go up, then try the door again. It would be nice if that's all it was huh? Sometimes they stick when they get too cold. If this works for you....spray it with some WD-40 or graphite. Hope this worked for you. Cheaper than the 2000.00 motor!

The suggested fix above did fix my problem. The problem is that a 2.5" hinged finger that pops up from the floor of the door opening to block the door. Apparently, the finger should, but doesnt go back down after the gas flap is closed. Even after I got hinged finger down (so that the sliding door would open/close all the way), it still would not go back down after the gas flap has been opened. i.e. I have to push the finger back down every time after we fill up with gas. It looks like there is a little wire/spring that should pull the finger back down, but it is off of the finger. I think that replacing this back on the finger should fix the problem permanently.
