died as i was driving. started again then died. Then sat for awhile, then started for 1 or 2 seconds then died.

I have found the problem when i was checking the fuel presure i used an old fuel presure tester and was reading 35 psi. at the time i thought it was probably higher since the tester was old, not knowing it had to have 60 to 65 psi to push through the injectors.

The problem bad fuel pump the pump was only pushing 35 psi. insted of 60 to 65. New pump $257.00 at Auto Zone and it came with the new color coated plug you have to replace.

P.S -Its not hard to replace but you have to bring down the gas tank. Thx for everybodys help.

Have you Checked the Fuel Filter????

Have you checked all of the Relays under the Hood in the Fuse Distribution Block???? Find a Relay that you know to be good and Swap it around until you can Start it. Usually works after you have replaced everything that you have already.

Look at the Fuse Panel inside the Cab and see if the ECM Fuse is in there or under the Hood. Find this Fuse and Pull it for 1 Hour. After you pull this fuse turn the Key to the start psition But, DO NOT Start. This should clear any codes that the Comuter has Stored. This is the Last line of Defense that I have in My arsenal.

There is one mounted on a Wiring harness under the Dash on the Steering Column But, I have never had to Change one Before.

Starting for a second or two is quite possible that the passlock system is causing it. I've seen this happen before. There are a lot of videos on youtube about bypassing this system. Have a look. bypass GM anti theft YouTube

first thing i would do i would check fuel pressure if you have good fuel pressure then the next thing i would unbolt the exhaust from the exhaust manafold and then try to start engine if the engine starts up and runs fine then you have clogged up exhaust converters

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 1999 GMC YUKON WITH THE 5.7 ENGINE HAVING TO JUMP START ALL THE TIME TO GET IT RUNNING, THE PROBLEM WITH MINE WAS THE FUEL PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED, EVEN WHEN I REMOVED THE PUMP AND TURNED THE KEY FUEL PUMPED OUT BUT WAS NOT ENOUGH PRESSURE TO GET AND KEEP THE ENGINE RUNNING.I ALSO TRIED STARTER FLUID, THE ENGINE WOULD RUN UNTIL THE FLUID BURNED OFF.SO THE SOLUTION FOR MY TRUCK WAS THE FUEL PUMP AND NOW ITS STARTING LIKE A CHAMP

Geo Metro 1994, diagnose no fuel presure problem.

Quite a few things can cause a car to die after idling for awhile, but if you have verified that the fuel pressure is actually dropping when the motor dies, the likely culprits are:
1) Electric fuel pump in the gas tank is bad
2) The fuel pressure regulator (on the throttle body) is bad
3) An electrical problem in the power to the fuel pump (like a bad fuel pump relay or lose ground wire to the relay's circuit)

My 99 Suburban is intermittently starting.....

Unfortunately the fuel pump can still be bad. The pump has a check valve on it that wears out. The pump will continue to run but, struggles to supply enough fuel to start the engine. You can buy a fuel pressure test gauge from Auto Zone or that type of auto parts store and check the pressure. You can purchase a fuel pump from them too.
