The check engine light is on ?and its not the first time... i left off
the gas cap a while back or didn't have it have it tight ... so what
might be the problem this time... it came on this morn before work but
wasn't on last night when i left work... and this morning i didn't let
it warm up... ?

Yes the light will go back off. However it will take some time. The average vehicle will rerun the monitor checks every 10 key starts. The other thing you can do is disconnect the battery for a minute. But if no rush for an echeck then just be patient and it will go out.
The engine light comes on from some kind of problem with the engine. It could be a sensor of any kind. The best thing to do is go to a place like AutoZone and have them scan it and find out what is going on. One thing you could check is the gas cap, if she put gas in it and didn't get the cap on tight it could set a code and turn on the light. the cap most likely set an evap code in the computer have it checked with a scan tool.if the cap is on tight then just clear the code and the light will go out.
code P1456 set when there's small leak in the fuel tank system.
Most known reason for P1456:
-Didn't tight fuel cap on until it click for more that 3 time after fueling up and drove the car too long with cap loose.
-or a bad gas cap.

Make sure your gas cap is tight, at least 5 clicks, sometimes a gas cap that doesn't seal tight will trigger the Check Engine Light. If the light stays on you will need to pull the Trouble Code from the ECM (Computer) using a OBD II scanner.
You gas cap is not on tight enough to seal causing the Check Engine Light to come on. When you tighten your gas cap you need to tighten it until it clicks at least 5 times, if it is tight than the seal on the gas cap may be bad. Replace with a OEM GM gas cap or a quality replacement that meets OEM specs.
If the light is out, no worries. if it comes back on and the cap is tight, there may be other problems and a qualified repair shop will need to diagnose that for you. It may have a Evaporative Emission Leak.
have you replaced the gas cap? most of the time when a check engine light is on for the gas cap, its because the cap isnt venting the fumes properly or the cap isnt on tight enough.
