Look at the front of the motor. Big pulley on the bottom center of block is attached to the end of the crankshaft. Crankshaft runs all the way through trhe bottom of the block. Remove oil pan and you can see it.

Hi Teresa thats ththhe sign of a battery going bad, how old is the battery? You might want to have it load tested so you can trouble shoot further, there could be more than 1 issue.
The auto shut down relay controls power to the coil and fuel injection so if on power is at the coil once the engine dies this is normal check cranking it should return but no spark then test the crank shaft sensor iit is on back of engine passenger side bolted to block.

the starter must spin the crank shaft, does it?
my guess is the distributor rotor dont spin
and the cam belt snapped, (not replaced every 60,000 miles does that like clock work)

Has throttle body been rebuilt? What about the gaskets/seals? are they new, (incl base gasket)? Also check throttle valve shaft for leakage between throttle body and shaft.
It's located inside the distributor. It would probably be better for you to change out the entire distributor that to go digging around inside it. The cost of an entire distributor, as opposed to changing all the sensors located inside, it's cheaper to replace the entire unit.The other sensors in there might also be on their way out, being so old.
There are 2 ways to solve your problem. One mechanic friend of mine always used his deep socket and snapped the shaft, freeing the top end of the shock. If you prefer to loosend the bolt, hold the shaft with pliers in one hand while loosening the bolt with the other. Both methods work equally as well. Best of luck.

have you put a new filter on since the problem cos i sounds like air getting in . some times wen people put new filter on they leav the old seal in it and it dont make a good seal or both the new and old are ther. but that is defenatly air
