Key fob wont even open or lock doors had new battery fitted still the same barely any lights and not starting or trying to start at all. drove it yesterday ok is there any electrical cut off to these vans. please help.
Battery with a dead cell can still show 12.5-13.8 volts but when any draw is put on it will drop voltage like a rock such as cutting on the headlights. They may look ok to begin with but will dim very quickly. I would start here by having the battery load tested.
Thanks Jim hubby cheking that now, i took key to local spares shop and they fitted new battery into fob someone says it needs re programing to van do you know if this is so.
Had a 98 Grand Prix and had to take it to the dealership to get it programmed. Have also had others make similar statements. I would say yes, fob must be programmed to vehicle code.

I had a skim module go out in mine in the ignition, and I have a 2001. It's a 100 part, and now it starts fine.
SOURCE: car won't start
Either an interior light or head lights were left on all night, or there's a dead short in the electrical system, or... the battery completely failed internally such as a weak spot or defect in the plates. At any rate, it all obviously points to the battery. Replace the battery.
SOURCE: problem with ford explorer alarm imobiliser
You should have a switch under the dash and then just turn it to the off position. If you don't or it doesn't work (like mine) then, there is 2 fuses under the dash, put the key in the ignition and turn it forward, pull one of the fuses out and then start the car that should reset it. Then you should be able to put the fuse back. Sometimes if you put the fuse back before starting it the alarm will just continue to try and reset itself, but not start the car. If that doesn't work I have a mechanic who can pull the whole alarm out and when hes done it would look like nothing has ever been installed. Hes very good. I ended having him take my alarm out when I had the same incident happen after the 2nd time.
