'01 Aurora......suddenly died while driving (2X) and since then all the DIC readouts are wrong, except the date. Coulde there be any connection to a loose gas cap? Are there fuses to replace for this problem or is there a way to re-boot?
Hello i had the same problem with my 01 aurora v8 i would be driving then it would shut off, I replaced the spark plugs and wires and have had no more problems since..
Start out by checking the connections on your battery and the connection next to the fuse block under the hood.
It is possible that this is a bad ignition switch, however if that were the case you would not see the DIC setting reset. DIC setting reset is indicative of a total power loss.

had to go to a mechanic. turned out to be a crank sensor. he had to remove the starter and installed new sensor, says the problem in solved. here's hoping.
Crank Sensor - yes, I had the same issue. Symptoms we that the car would die temporarily and come right back. When it came back the tach would be pegged. This happened 3 or 4 times before I had the sensor replaced.
Sould be no connection to DIC settings, so that is curious to me.
did you also have problems cranking it over. it will crank for a couple seconds before it will start and when it does the tach will be pegged again. but if you turn it off and retart it it is fine
