Car dying while driving, DIC readouts incorrect

'01 Aurora......suddenly died while driving (2X) and since then all the DIC readouts are wrong, except the date. Coulde there be any connection to a loose gas cap? Are there fuses to replace for this problem or is there a way to re-boot?

had to go to a mechanic. turned out to be a crank sensor. he had to remove the starter and installed new sensor, says the problem in solved. here's hoping.

Crank Sensor - yes, I had the same issue. Symptoms we that the car would die temporarily and come right back. When it came back the tach would be pegged. This happened 3 or 4 times before I had the sensor replaced.
Sould be no connection to DIC settings, so that is curious to me.

did you also have problems cranking it over. it will crank for a couple seconds before it will start and when it does the tach will be pegged again. but if you turn it off and retart it it is fine

Start out by checking the connections on your battery and the connection next to the fuse block under the hood.
It is possible that this is a bad ignition switch, however if that were the case you would not see the DIC setting reset. DIC setting reset is indicative of a total power loss.

1991 Cadillac DeVille (has 110,000 miles on it) suddenly dies while driving. Starts and idles fine, but shuts off after driving only 1-2 blocks. What's wrong and how do we fix it?

There are many things that can contribute to this problem. It sounds like it may be ignition related. Possibly an ignition control module or ignition coil. The check engine light coming on while driving is the key to finding the problem. The light comes on when the computer finds a problem and will then store it in its memory. Have the codes checked for what the computer has found to be at fault and with a little diagnostics, should lead you to the problem

Why did it all of a sudden die?

Check for blown fusible link.

I have a 2005 Toyota corolla and it dies all of a sudden, what could it be?

Best thing is to take the vehicle to a toyota dealer and let them do a diagnostic test on it via the ECU. Thus showing the error codes stored in the ECU. This will save you money in the end by not fixing the incorrect stuff and shows you exactly whats wrong with it. Avoiding guessing. From there you will know whats needed to be fixed.

My car dies when I drive for a short time.

Check O2/mapp sensor. Also if you can elaborate on the behavior of the engine as it stalls, is there smoke, does it race then suddenly die out or does it barely run at a very slow unsteady idol until it floods out?
