CHANGED OUT FUEL FILTER, FUEL PUMP, DRAINED GAS TANK, JUST WONT START, HAS BRAND NEW BATTERY
Check to make sure the Security light in dash on right hand corner is not on. If it is on , your passlock is enabled. to dissable it turn your key on but not start it and wait for apx 10-15 minutes. this should re-set it.
If the engine turns over, but just doesn't start, you need to do some checking, check for spark from the coil, or coil packs, if that checks out ok, have the crank and cam shaft position sensors checked, timing belt, computor. I know it's a pain, but I have worked on cars for 40 years, something like this you have to use process of elimination, without testing, you could replace things you don't need. ( expensive) good luck).
It is the timing chain not timing belt. daughter has a 2003 and changed out all the above and it was the timing chain, plan on paying about $500 bucks to fix, good luck!

i have a 2003 alero and it turns over but wont start we have changed the fuel pump and filter and replaced the crank sensor and still wont start please can someone help. We had it towed to a shop and when it got there it started for them first try they said nothing was wrong and now again in less then 2 days the car is doing the same thing.

I also have an 03 Alero and was driving it home the other day when I lost all power and it died... the engine also will turn over, but it won't start. I am thinking that it is the timing belt, but I am not sure... also on a budget since I just lost my job. Need to get it fixed asap so I can go to interview
my '03 olds just died while driving down the road, too. battery fine, didn't overheat, it just died. Any suggestions??

LOL............... IT WAS MY FUEL PUMP I JUST HAD TO BUY A NEW ONE AND MY MECHANIC FRIEND PUT IT ON AND IT'S BEEN RUNNING EVER SINCE SEEMS THAT THE OLD FUEL PUMP WAS THE ORIGINAL THAT CAME WITH THE CAR AND SINCE MY CAR IS A 2003 I GUESS IT WAS TIME TO CHANGE IT THANK GOD IT WAS JUST THE PUMP :)
2003 alero 2.2L wont crank sometimes, never a problem in the morning, but after i drive it and cut the car off, then it starts acting like it is flooded or not enough fuel. it started doing this when i drove the car very hard (120+mph) and also lost control, fish tailed and the driver rear end bumped a pretty high embankment. When i finaly get it to crank if i let off the gas pedal it will cut off, but if i apply brake + gas pedal and shift into gear it wont cut off. if i rev the rpms pretty high (4000 - 5000) in park it sputters ? Please help i dont have the money to throw away!
