I thought that my 2001 alero window had fallen off the track, but come to find out the plastic clips that hold the window to the opening mechanism had broken. Just had to replace both plastic clips.

    Hope this helps, Jody

First remove the door panel there are three screws that need to be removed first 2 under the inside door handle and 1 on the lower left hand side behind a reflector then pull off the panel it will be held on by push clips, once inside move the plastic weather bearrer to the side ,run the window half way down you should see 2 window holding brackets pull the window up so you can drop it in the brackets, first get some black window adhesive fill the brackets with adhesive put window in brackets and roll it up and leave it up for 24 hrs.If the brackets are broken you will have to replace the whole window motor assemly which you can get on line for 89.00 not the 250.00 at dealer and you can install it yourself its easy to do.

Forced the driver side window down when it was froze. can i put it back in

yes. as long as the window isn't shattered. you need to take your door panel off not always the easiest. when that's done you will have only a few holes to pick up the window and put it back into the track, if possible two people makes this easier. now the trick is to see if any damage was done to the track where the window sits. good luck

Ok let's do this you need to have tool to remove window crank handle then remove door panel look for screws in arm rest then panel should be held on by plastic push pins remove the by prying door panel with screw driver after removal look at crank handle shaft you will find bolts attaching mechanism to door get help from another person to hold the glass after removing bolts you can work the unit to remove glass from the unit then reinstall glass into the unit and put back in reverse order this will take lots of patience but you can do this the glass is in a metal frame with rollers that slide into the mechanical window regulator make sure glass goes back into the window felt track during reinstall hope this helps.

Drivers window not working, glass seems to have slipped down about an inch and cannot move it. Does this sound like motor, regulator or just the plastic window clip hardware I have read about?

okay it has most likly fallen off the track, if you remove the door panel (read online if you have not done this before) and inside you will find a few bolts holding the tracks for the window. Remove one bolt from the bottom and reach in and put glass back into the track and replace the bolt. also the windows most commonly come out of the track because of friction from aging window rubber. This can be helped by adding a little lube to the rubber around the window... make sure first that the lube you use safe for the application. if you need more help on this let me know what the make and model of the car is.

Window on passenger side went down wont come back up might be off track how do i take door panel off to roll up window

In the door handle there is a small plastic piece that pops out with a screw driver.

then there are 2 philips screws you take out.

then undo the wires from your door locks and windows and pull from the bottom of the door it should pop off.

Window will not roll up

Their is a separate motor for each window. The least expensive fix is to replace the entire track assembly and motor. This is not a big job if you have done it before but it could be if you are not mechanical.

Power windows only work using master drivers side controls

You will need a new switch on the masters door any thing you do to the lock out will show a short one way or the other and cause problems. Not the news you wanted to hear.

Frozen power window

I just fixed a frozen up one on a 2002 Alero, I removed the door panel, unbolted the motor and it had a lot of pressure on it. When re-installed with no preload, the window worked fine. I lubed the tracks with silicone spray just to be safe.

I've seen this many times over the years on GM windows and still can't explain why it happens. Perhaps holding the switch in the up position too long/?

Fix front passenger window in a 2001 Alero

Sounds like it is Off Track. You will need to remove the Door Panel. There are Access holes in the Door so that you can get it Back on Track.
