Brake have clanking noise

My 2002 lexus rx300 makes a clanking noise when I'm braking at low speed and also makes the same when I try to go after I stopped. The problem is erratic in some way, because sometimes I hear it, and other times I don't. and the clanking noise is on and off, not continuous. What can that be? Can you help me?

Hi there. I have lexus rx300. A few days ago the brake light been going on and off when driving. So i took it to the dealer, then they only said the brake fluid was low, but if it happens again then we...

If the fluid level is again low, you are losing it; if not, the level sensor is likely bad. Lost fluid indicates a failed master or slave cylinder at one of the wheels. The squealing you are hearing isn't likely from the brakes but from a belt that needs replacement or at least tightened; the fact that is squeals when starting and in turns, indicates that the steering pump being driven by that belt is slipping a little under the stress of making turns. This often goes away once the engine room is warmed up since the belt rubber gains a little grip when warm which stops the squealing.

I am having the same problem. I am thinking it is a sign of the alternator going out. The light and bell sounds also sounded when I pressed the door lock button to lock or open the doors.

2001 lexus rx300 problem. When accelerating the vehicle makes a grinding sound as if something is engaging and you feel vibrations. It only last for one to two seconds and this only happens sporadically.

Any grinding is not good. This almost sounds like a sticking brake rotor/caliper which is popping free, or a parking brake dragging. Either way the fact that it stops does not mean it will fix it self. I would inspect all 4 brake rotors for excess wear.
try to determine if this happens after parking and braking, then isolate the area you thing the noise is coming from.
Separate from that it could be a gear issue in your trans at low speed but you need to get it checked ASAP as it will only lead to greater expense.

Try pushing down on the parking brake while pulling on the release handle.Downward pressure may make the release handle easier to pull.Good luck,
