You have a serious high voltage short circuit that not only has burned out the fusible link but probably killed your voltage regulator and alternator. Did you replace your starter? check the wiring of all components ..alternator /starter.. ground cables /positive cables. check for chafing and melted wires.. You must find the short first because if not you will simply burn out another component.

·Make a simple test of the alternator:
If you can, somehow get the engine running, measure the voltage at the battery. It should be at least 13.6 volts to properly charge the battery.

Bad voltage regulator. Usually built-into alternator.
Start car and unplug battery, if it dies your alternator is dead. Get new alternator. If car keeps running, get a voltmeter and check voltage coming through - should be higher than 12v but less than 18v. Any other number means your voltage regulator is dead, cheaper to get a new alternator.

Electrical?Altenator

Give this a shot make sure that the ground wire that connects to the engine and the fire wall did not burn into. If it did it will not charge may sound dumb but the engine must be grounded for the alternater to charge.

Gmc 1500, new battery, no lights, gauges dont work and it wont start, mechanic checked alternator

If nothing works including the lights, you may have a bad battery cable or a burned fusable link on the starter.

You may have gotten the +pos and -neg cables crossed, causing the fusable link wire to burn out.
Check for the burned link wire between the alternator and the battery side of the starter solenoid on
top of the right fender well, and splice in a new fusable link wire, any parts store should have this.
The fusable link is there to protect the charging system from damage when things like this happen.
But once it's running be sure to check the charging system. Hope this helps.

Wont charge battery new battery and alternater

check the fusable link embedded in the positive wire to the altenator for an open. It is conjoined in the altenator wire that is attached to the stud with the nut equipt. The link will short out although the vinyl insulating coating will not burn or break open to see. Yug one the wire a foot away from the connection and see if the insulating wire will stretch. If so the link has an open there inside of it. Auto parts stores sells these links. They are crimped in upon replacement

Troubleshooting alternater for 1997 nissan sentra - alternator is good and battery is good also ,but it still will not keep the battery charged while running

Check the wiring between the alternator and the battery, especially at the battery end there is a fusable link there that might be blown.

I bought a new alternater and also a new battery my car still wont charge the battery. What else could it be?

There should be a heavy wire going from the alternator output to the terminal on the starter solenoid that has the positive battery cable also. This wire contains a 'fuse link' which will burn out if the alternator has a shorted diode. It should be hanging out of the wiring harness that the wire runs in. Replace it with the same component as original.

Replaced battery and alternater tested fine but car will not start

It is very possible that you need a new starter. If the engine wont even turn over like its trying to start then its the started. If the engine is trying to start but wont then its probably the fuel pump.

The alternater keeps going out. We have replaced

sometimes you are just the unlucky soul that gets bum alternators or your battery in the truck has enough juce to crank it over but is almost dead and your alternator is burning up trying to charge a battery that wont accept a decent charge. plus clean the battery terminals

Battery is connected, battery is charged, has no power to anything,no lights no horn.

Check the battery connections at the battery, and the starter, and the ground. Use a test light to see if you have power to the starter. If you don't, you may have blown a fusable link in your battery cable. JUst keep checking down the cable with your test light. If you have power on one side of the fusable link, and not the other, it's toast. Replace cable.
