Dash lights are bulbs,soldered into the printed circut board.
Can't be replaced. I wired an led light into the dash light circut
at the plug in at the cluster.

Why do think the key security is bad? If you still have a factory key, this is not the problem...if no factory key, you can take your VIN number or original key to GM dealer to get new key that they will program for you...Check for dirty battery connections:)
seen many of these where a dash / interior light is staying on ... if you have a garage / make it dark. then check look to find light in small tight area.........
Put in your search engine , Recalls on a 2002 Chevy Impala LS it will bring up quite a few good sites to pick from. They were more recalls then I could put down here.
Look for any lights on the dash when this happens. These cars have had alot if trouble with the antitheft system. If you see a light that says SECURITY, go to this link for help and info.
