What does you temp gage show, does the engine reach normal operating temp? Are the heater hoses hot? Does the blower motor work? Can you check circulation through the heater core? There may be a problem with directional door, under the dash? You need to do a little testing so we can narrow it down.
What was your temp gauge reading on the vehicle when this occured? It could be a small plastic blend door in the dash that is operated by a small motor that when you turn your switch to hot the door moves to allow the heat from your heater core to be blown through ducts into your cab. Sometimes these can be calibrated sometimes he plastic door brakes. BUT i would start by bringing the vehicle up to operating temp first and checking it then.
Sorry to say but i have had plenty of experience with dodge vehicles and have ran into this problem before.....its your head gasket sucking air...(hence the bubbles in your overflow tank isnt from being hot....its the air escaping from your engine)......Plus the posiblility of your heater core being clogged....
Roger it sounds like the blower motor is not comming on. There is a resistor network located in the engine compartment on the passenger side mounted to the firewall, that controlls the blower motor. The connections may have corroted or the unit itself is bad. That was the first thing I had to relpace when I got my used 92 Dakota. There is also a 30 amp fuse in the fuse box under the dash board . If that is blown I would suspect the blower motor is seized up or just pulling too much power.
need more info? Heater blowing cold air? Heater not blowing at all? If neither heat or air are blowing then it's just the blower fan. Easy to replace and fairly cheap.
I have a 98 dodge intrepid wjth a digital temp control Icann't get heat when I go up with temp or in manual over ride.Line's to the heater core are hot both coming and going.Checked # 17 fuse its good.Could it still be the heater core??
hello.....
first in this problem you need to look for cheapest things to do which is start with you thermostat abd make sure its open and close by how much temp inside the eng. then u need to feel the input hose and the output hose which they come from the heater core they should have closely same temp . if there is non of them have any heat thats mean the water pump blower is broke and u have to replace the water pump, if one of the heater core hose hot and the other cold the problem in the heater core , about the A/C light is on the A/C comprasser shoul work with the heat becuase hot air + cold air = dry air which u need for ur front DEF
There is a valve located on one of the heater hoses that when you select heat moves to allow heated water to flow through the heater core. Yours is probably just stuck, with heat selected on the dash try to move valve by hand.
thermostat was broken in pieces, after replacing thermostat I tested heater, funtions well. Thank you
I replace thermostat and still i have same issue.
