2003 Ford Taurus temperature guage

Sometimes the temperature guage works and sometimes it don't move at all. I am getting heat from the heater. It's just that the guage doesn't move at all sometimes and sometimes it works. I let the car warm up to when the tach shows 1. I went about 7 miles this morning to work and the guage worked. I came home 7 mi. and it didn't move at all. My husband looked under the hood and he wiggled the wire in the sending unit and it worked. Any suggestions? Thank you,
Linda

No heat in Ford Aerostar gage does not move. Heater core was flushed and new thermostat was put in

Just a guess, but I don't think you did this yourself. Take it back to the mechanic and complain.

You didn't say if this was the result of the flush and thermostat change or if you had the problem previously. I tend to think this is a thermostat problem still. It is possible the mechanic simply forgot to install the new thermostat (remote, but possible).

If you have no heat and the temperature guage is pegged cold, the engine is not reaching operating temperature. It is the thermostat's job to regulate this. Does the radiator get warm?

I would take it back to the mechanic if you trust him, or try another if you don't.

FUEL GUAGE DOES NOT WORK

More than likely its the sender unit in the tank..Some of the late taurus uses a small module under the center of the dash,,it can also cause this,,Im not sure when they started using it..But the symtoms of the module usually work right sometimes and sometimes it goes all the way to full..If its not doing that then i would suspect the sender

2003 ford taurus heater fan worked fine last night but won't come on at all today.

I do not understand why people will continue to operate a vehicle when they know there is an obvious problem. They ignore check engine lights until the engine stops running altogether and then are "surprised" when they get stranded in the middle of the expressway in rush hour traffic. Then they blame it on the car!!!

In your case, you have ignored the warning signs of your blower motor failing ("making noise for a couple months"?) and now you are dumfounded as to why your blower motor now does not work at all.....I don't get it....!???

REPLACE YOUR BLOWER MOTOR!

What's your problem?the fan for the heater quit working

I'm assuming the heat for the inside of your car. Does it work at all? On any of the speed setting? If it doesn't check fuses, check for power and ground at fan. Or if you can see it just bang on it with your fist sometimes that will get it working temp.

Heat sometimes works in 2003 envoy

First I recommend checking that your coolant level is good. Please check this cold so you don't risk getting burned. I have seen too many heater complaints where the coolant level was simply too low to fill the heater core. Next, you should check if the heater control valve is operating. I don't have any GM experience, but heater valves are often the cause of intermittent heater operation in many cars. Good luck!

Temperature guage goes to high, but it doesn't appear that the van is overheating (no steam/fluid leaking) Radiator & thermostat were recently replaced. Guage will jump to high when idle, but...

FLUSH RADIATOR, HEATER CORE AND ENGINE BLOCK.ADD 50 / 50 ANTIFREEZE AND WATER ALSO REPLACE RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.IF TEMPERATURE GAUGE STILL STAY HIGH THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR COULD BE FAULTY.

No heat for me and my daughter 201 ford taurs everything you can think of has been done to this car please help

i hate no heat. ford taurus 2001 are a problem sometimes with heat issues.on the firewall there are heater hoses that get clogged, pinched, and sometimes it's just a bad heater core. you said everything you can think of has been done?[replaced heater core? flushed the radiator? are the cooling fans coming on? is radiator full of coolant? have you took the cap off to be sure?like i said,i hate no heat. i'm still thinking.thermostat new?the blower works but only blows cold air?ok if thermostats good, radiator is full, blower works, radiators full, cooling fans coming on, no engine overheating but temperature is fine, let's do this for a short winter time solution only!in the front of your car with the hood up.look at the radiator,ok,in front of the radiator, place a peice of cardboard in front of radiator on the bumper side. think i'm crazy right? try this. cut just a small peice of cardboard about half the size of the radiator and insert it in FRONT BUMPER SIDE of the radiator, this will give you emegency heat,it will have to come out when the temperature outside warms up because it will make your car overheat.for sure.but in cold weather,it's a sure thing to bring the heat up inside the car. you are restricting the air that flows through your radiator while the cars moving down the road,do not let car idle as it will heat up,as long as you're moving you will be safe, keep an eye on your temp. guage as you may have to make an adjustment to the size of the cardboard. yep i was a truck driver for many years and know so well how cold the road is. i kept my cardboard handy in the winter and never got cold. you do have an existing problem with your heat, and unless you deal with it soon, you'll need those cardboard boxes and duct tape for a minute.if you don't beleive me,try it.you'll be toasty in no time, just watch that temp guage and you'll be fine. thank you for choosing fixya.com and by the way,let me know how it works for you,i love to hear that i've assisted someone, somewhere.
