Cannot Reset 2004 Grand Cherokee Factory Radio

I recently replaced my radio with a factory radio. It is easily wired; however, now the radio will not turn on. The CD player works and the time is displayed when I push a button. Is there a reset button for the radio itself?

no reset button, verify the wiring again, but i agree it is not the issue most likely. was this radio new? if used was it unlocked?

Double check fuses, in case one of the power wires touch something and blew a fuse. You'll have 2 power, one with & without key on.

Replaced factory radio with aftermarket radio, now heat, ac, radio, controls not working (checked fuses, none blown)

was this a hack job?> cutting wires. (cutting harness wires?)
or did you use those nice install kits with the connector pig tails
that find the factory harness connector.
if you messed it up, only the FSM can save you now.
read the schematics.

no electrical tape allowed (heat shrink)
no wire nuts (horror to max on cars)
no cannibal splices. (the cut in to factor wires, nasty they are)
or it can be bad.

Instead of plugging the factory harness into the radio an adapter might be needed.
ref. link: http://www.carstereohelp.com
stereo-mci1pvvbw0dqilycvujzsuug-3-0.jpeg the above diagram is supposed to match your radio from the factory. The documentation with the new radio should provide the pins and plugs and what is on them. The correct plug or adapter should match up with the factory harness and work correctly.

Installed new cd player and it wont power on

this happened to me in one of my cars, I bet that if you put the factory radio back in it will work just fine, most of the radios components, are part of systems wiring and used to send signals to ecm to let car start

I want to replace the radio in a 2002 grand am

Easy get the radio you want, then go to wal-mart and look for a wire install plug, and a radio install bezel. The plug will plug directly into the factory harness in the dash and all you have to do is connect the color coded wires from the new radio harness to the aftermarket one. The bezel will fill in the extra space from the size difference from the factory to the new radio.

My radio can be on even without the key in (01 focus) maybe the radio is directly wired to the battery cable and your wire has been fried or damaged from the 'jumping'. You may want to carefully inspect the little wires attached to your actual battery connectors.

That's my guess.

you might have to take it to the dealership to have the radio reprogramed. it should only cost 40 bucks. these radios are very tempermental and have a mind of their own sometimes. My profesional recomendation would be to have an aftermarket cd player in. they are much nicer and have way better quality than the factory radio's
