Door locks unlock by themselves

While driving down the road and/or parked with the engine off the automatic door locks try to unlock/lock themselves on a continuing basis for several minutes. While this is happening you can't open any of the doors from the outside. The manual headlights have also become automatic on their own. What is going on?

Probably a issue with your actuator... there is a recall due to the "latching system does not meet the inertia load requirement" might want to check with the dealership to see if your vehicle is with this group, hope this helps :)

It could also be your GEM (generic electronic module) which is expensive as it controls a lot of stuff. A scan tool can be used to cehck for fault codes from the GEM.

SOURCE: Front driver door won't open from the inside only

The linkage is probably broken or snapped out of place from inside the door panel.
You'll feel that the handle is much easier to move than the other doors.

If you are confident and able, take the door apart removing the screws and snap pieces and look for the missing linkage. It's usually a snap piece that holds a rod in place on the back of the handle. They break all the time, or dry rot, or jarr out of place. They're easily available at your local auto parts place or even dealership for just a few bucks!

Good luck!

When I close all doors on my 2001 Dodge Durango Quad cab they all lock all by themselves within a minute It has a key fob for locking and unlocking doors and I've changed batteries.

check the automatic door locking module
it is supposed to lock the doors after a certain road speed is reached so if it is happening immediately then it is faulty
if you unlock the doors but do not open at least one with in a set time 1 minute --- the module will relock the doors

What would cause the doors to randomly lock constant and set security

This is related to communication with the transmission shift "range selector". It is a loose connection that is causing the control module to "see" a park or Neutral and the doors unlock. This may turn on the check engine light also. It may eventuallly cause the transmission to not shift, also. You need to check the connection on the transmission and on the shift range selector (sometimes called the "PRNDL" switch. The computer automatically locks the doors when you select a gear. It is seeing no gear selected and unlocking the doors, the seeing a gear selected again, and locking the doors. You really need to get this repaired soon.

it sounds like you may have a door switch going bad or in need to adjustment, the car thinks the door is ajar and then cycles the locks. the hard part may be to figure out which switch is making it act up.

CHevy cobalt door locks- lock and unlock while I am driving had key fob reprogrammed and it was ok for about two hours and started all over again. What can the problem be?

Could be a problem in the shiftier. Your car doors lock automatically when you put the car in drive. They unlock when you put the car in park. The switch located in the shiftier can go bad causing the locks to randomly lock and unlock. Also, this can cause the key to get stuck in the ignition.
