1999 toyota vienta drivers side rear electric window not working

1999 toyota vienta drivers side rear electric window will not go up or down. I can hear the motor working, but its just making a klicking noise and the window doesn't move up or down. The glass is loose and i pulled it up phisically and taped it in place to keep it closed.
Can you advise what may be the problem?

You need to replace the window regulator assembly.
The cables that run the glass up and down have broken inside the regulator.

Hope this helps. A FixYa rating would be greatly apprecited.

Automotive electric window repair

Probably a loose or corroded connection in the master window switch. Sometimes if a window is down when it is raining the switch will get wet and cause some corrosion on the contacts.

The electric windows in my 1999 Toyota Camry will go down, but struggle to go up and will stop altogether after about 2-6 inches of lift. I can push them up with my hand while holding the power switch in...

I would try to lubtcate the rubber tracks that the window slides up and down in. Sometimes, dirt gets into the tracks, and the dirt acts like brakes. Get some 100% SILICONE SPRAY, and spray the rubber slides real good. See if that helps.

1999 Toyota Camry LE - Driver's Side Electric Window

What you have could be one or both of the following:
Dirty/sticky window tracks, or a window motor issue.
What I would do before you take it in: Get some 100% silicone spray, lower the window, and spray the lubricant down inside the door, on the rubber strip that the window travels in. Run the window up & down to get the lubricant worked in. See if that helps.
What is happening here is this: There is a thermister built into the drive motor, and when the motor gets a little too hot (working too hard, with dirty window rubbers), it opens, like a circuit breaker. When it cools off, the thermister contacts close, and the window works again. 2 things cause this: Dirty window run rubbers, or a motor that is beginning to fail.
Hope this helps. Feel free to comment back for more info...
