Hyundai car stereo can't turn on audio/mod. no. H-817XD Part no. 96150-22000/need code no. to turn on audio/power ok

The stereo is needing a code to put in before it will work. It should be in the owners manual. If not, you will have to check with a dealer who may provide a code for a small fee. You will need proof of ownership of the car.

Your radio is in theft lockout, you need the security code that came with the owners paperwork new.

P0442 = Evaporative Emission System-Leak detected (small leak)
Go to www.hmaservice.com and register your vehicle by VIN #.. you'll then have access to wiring diagrams, shop manuals, service bulletins, campaigns, illustrations and procedures, etc.
When a 'check engine light' (MIL=Malfunction Indicator Lamp) is turned on, there is a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) set/stored in the ECM/PCM (Engine Control Module/Powertrain Control Module). This code identifies which engine management system component/function experienced a malfunction.
SINCE I don't know which model/year (M/Y) Hyundai vehicle you have, it's difficult to help.

disconnect the 2 audio fuses and wiat 5 minutes with the ignition key off, insert both fuses, then turn the key on. if it doesnt eject, it probably has an internal defect and will need to be repaired.

The Dealer will have all the information to give to you and will give you a code to keep in the car with the Owners Manual for future needs. Any time the battery is disconnected or changed, if you don't put a power saver source in the lighter socket, you will loose the stereo memory. Each car has their own secret code for the stereo in it, it's not something anyone else would know.

try another hyundai dealer in your area. Someone should have it on record somewhere. Tell them to stop being lazy..

Things You'll Need:

• Screwdrivers
• Wiring harness adaptor
• Hyundai radio adaptor kit

1. Open the coin holder and remove the two screws at the front. Pry the trim from around the gearshift lever and unhook the power wire to the cigarette lighter.
   
2. Locate and remove the two screws from the bottom of the radio trim panel. Look for the screws, attached to a rod, below the glove box. Unhook the cable from the rod and pull the rod free.
   
3. Place the shifter into "D" and slide the radio trim panel away from the dash. Locate the four screws at the front and sides of the stereo and remove them.
   
4. Pull the stereo out of the Hyundai Sonata dash and disconnect the wires from the back of the unit. Connect the wiring harness adaptor to the original harness.
   
5. Slide the new head unit into the Hyundai radio adaptor kit. Attach the wiring harness adaptor and antenna wire to the back of the new head unit and push the entire assembly into the dash.
   
6. Secure the stereo in place with the four front and side screws and turn it on. Verify all of the speakers and features are working. Reattach the radio trim panel, insert the rod back into cable assembly and secure the trim around the gear shift.

If you're not an electrician or a certified Hyundai Technician, find one. Let them diagnose the problem you described.
