Engine light is on and sometimes my car will not crank, sometimes does a little spudder

2 months ago my car would not crank so i got someone to jump my car off and it cranked.. few weeks after that check engine light came on and off every so often. few weeks after this it wouldnt crank again so i got someone to jump my car off again and it cranked. engine light stayed off then it would come on every so often.. last night my car spttered going down the road, engine light on. today car wouldnt crank so i wiped off battery and it cranked.. later it wouldnt crank so i wiped battery off again and wouldnt crank. after letting car set then it cranked. had battery blown clean and they said it is not the battery that it might be fuel pump or need tune up...

Have your alternator tested. tune up afterwards would not be a bad idea

had a problem with a grand prix like that once, was the fuel filter, and injectors, all needed replaced, and it only had 89,000 miles.
Would check fuel filter first. Is it possible you got some bad gas??

it's telling you to go get your engine checked. the diagnostic codes are stored on the computer so bring it to a mechanic and have them "check engine"

TESTING OF CRANK SENSOR

  1. Use the fluke meter.
  2. Unplug the sensor, and backprobe the connector.
  3. Theres 3 slots, you want A and B on the connector going TO the sensor- not TO the engine.

Normal resistance is 200ohms, +/- 75ohms.
275ohms to 125ohms...any higher or lower and it is recommended for replacement.


MAP SENSOR TEST

  1. Disconnect at sensor, key on.
  2. Voltage from terminal A to terminal C =4.5 to 5 volts.
  3. Reconnect, and backprobe sensor at B= 4.5 to 5 volts.
  4. Start engine, backprobe sensor at B -AFTER idle stabilizes-- .5 to 1.5 volts.

there are no codes that say replace O2 sensors,or remove converter,Thats just somebody's guessing,When it says O2 sensor that tells the mechanic to look for trouble in that area,wiring or faulty readings,And there are four O2 sensors.

1989 nissan pickup 4 cylinder when i turn the key to crank the engine i hear a click sound at the starter what could the click sound be?

could be battery . It needs a huge amount of charge to turn over the starter motor. It may work the headlights but be unable to turn the starter motor.
Suggest get battery tested at a battery seller to see if battery is really ok .
The click is most likely the solenoid on the starter motor clicking on.
You might be able to get someone to run jumper leads
Note +ve to + ve and negative to negative !
from their car while the engine is running and their car is not moving !
Wait 10 minutes
Then try to crank over your car engine .

I jump started a 4wd vehicle a month ago from my car and it took about 10 minutes to get enough charge in it to crank over the engine !

2005 Jeep Liberty died while driving, cranks but no fuel pressure and no start

If it did not start and die when you used starting fluid then check to see if the plugs are getting spark. Check to see if injectors are pulsing. Could be bad crank sensor. Need scanner to check further

Those are main engine fuses, not always both used. They power the ECU, ignition trigger, crank position sensor etc. Try ebay for a handbook or owners forum. Google images should provide a diagram

While drviing down freeway today the 2.5 ltr engine died and will crank but will not start. one month ago it was backfireing in intake and dieing on freeway and i thought i had bad gasoline it fixit

you need three main conponents for the engine to run,fuel,spark,compression . first have someone to crank the motor and put the spark plug lead of the plug and hold it near the block and if there is spark it will jump a inch or so, check the fuel filter , hold the fuel line clear of electirical and heat, crank engine , fuel will flow, when engine is running but running rough as a miss fire disconnect plug lead one at a time till you find missing cylinder

what do you mean by wont start?? engine cranks but wont run? engine wont crank? Is the anti-theft light flashing? is the car in park? did you put it in Neutral and try to crank it?

You know the 97 to 04 Malibu is noted for intake manifold leaking antifreeze into the engine. A little antifreeze in a cylinder can keep the piston from moving in compression stroke. Take a look at the spark plugs, see if any of them have antifreeze on them and maybe the starter will spin the crank with the plugs out.

try a little starting fluid in the air intake if this doesnt work check plugs for fireing
