Those belts are usually supposed to be changed every 60,000 miles. Behind the timing belt cover is your water pump. They can make noise when going out, but usually a timing belt makes no noise, just breaks. If you ever have to change the water pump, it is always suggested to change the timing belt as well. VS. If your timing belt gets stretched, it will make a bit of a noise, but your car will start running poorly at the same time. Hope I was helpful

If your caddy is the 1.9 diesel
The mark you are looking for is on the flywheel. Remove the plastic plug in top of the bell housing to reveal a small arrow. Rotate engine until the flywheel TDC mark lines up with this arrow

SOURCE: Hi there,

Do you mean the serpentine belt? The timing belt is typically found on the inside of t he engine. There is usually a diagram under the hood itself in the area of the serpentine belt that shows its proper routing. Be sure that you route it around the belt tensioner. This is what create the proper tension on the belt.

Seat inca van will notstart turning over o.k. Took stop solenoid out to check no fuel in pump

Change the fuel pump after you change out the fuel filter. The clog could have burned out the pump.

73,000 miles have taken good care ie oil changes regular, lately a noise in the front, maybe engine or belt the van sounds tired, a slight ticking noise. i was wondering if at this stage if i should take...

I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find out that all that is wrong and making those noises is a worn belt, besides this a good time of year to have those all checked, to avoid sitting on the side of the road, and possibly causing more damage that needed to engine. I personally don't think it's necessary to take it to a dealer for that, as any competent mechanic, should be able to get that done for you. Belt will probably run $30-$40, with labor you should be under a $100.

Squealing sound every time I start my van

you need to adjust the alternator belt, do adjustment a little bit tightening a bit. this will solve the problem. Or just change a new belt if the belt has crack.
