Overhead console (EVIC) seems dead

The overhead console in my 2002 Grand Cherokee has gone dead. For a while it would come on sometimes and not others - now nothing. Sunroof switch and console lights still work fine.

I found a self-test using the C/T and Reset buttons, but nothing happened, so I think I may not be getting power. I looked at a wiring diagram which said there are two fused positive power leads. Does anyone know where these run, or where they are fused?

My Jeep does the same thing. one thing that I noticed is, when you press hard on the center it comes back on, temporarily. I have checked all the connections and everything seems normal. However, i did notice that one of the plastic mounts where you screw the module do the overhead console, is broken off. don't really see how that could mess it up, but maybe i'm wrong. So far i haven't found anyway to fix it either, so i will probably have to buy one as well.

I don't have a diagram for your vehicle, but why not check power right at the console. Also check headliner to see if it gets damp or wet when it rains or when vehicle is warm inside Any moisture in the console will give you intermittent crazy problems with electronics.

Same problem. I finally solved it by buying a new circuit board with display from a junk yard for $35.00 and replaced it. they let me try it out there before i had to buy it. Works fine now.

2003 jeep grand cherokee limited overhead console dead and cruise control does not not work

Sounds to me as if a couple of fuses have blown. There must be a reason why they blew, sometimes is wires grounding or broken wires somewhere under the panel. Better taking it to a professional as could be something simple or something rather complicated. Good luck

I have 2002 F250 super duty. overhead console digital readout has gone dead. Anything I can do short of pulling it out and sending in for repair?

Be sure that it is not a fuse. If the overhead lights are also dead then it is most likely a fuse. If the lights are OK then it is the console. We fix them: www.autoclockrepair.com
Let me know if I can be of any assistance with removal or troubleshooting, thanks!

2002 jeep grand cherokee limited: why does the driver seat all ways move back when you turn off the car, can I stop it from doing that Thank for your help

It's called "easy exit" and can be turned off using the evic customer features. I think on this year it's in the overhead console. Start pressing buttons and you should be able to find it and turn it off.

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The overhead console display works intermitently? It does seem to come on (after switching the ignition off and on again) after the vehicle warms up a few minutes? Any ideas?

This is a very common problem with many of the mid 2000 truck and SUV overhead consoles. The console is very prone to internal failure. I offer a reasonable repair service with a lifetime guarantee, check it out: www.autoclockrepair.com
There is a bunch of useful info there. Drop me an email if you have questions, thanks!
