2003 Altima won't go in reverse

I turned my car off to pump gas and when I try to start it it wouldn't. I had it towed to the nissan dealer they told me that the red button that is under the dashboard wasn't push in all the way. So he pushed it in and it start but now it won't go in reverse. It's being running fine never had a problem with it. What would cause this to happen? How to fix it?

You can go to your local Library, they usually have automotive manuals (Chiltons, Haynes, etc.) that you can check out. Or, you can purchase these at your local auto parts store $10-$20. They are very useful to have on hand and provide decent photos.

SOURCE: Car won't start until i give it gas.

You have to change the Fuel filter on your car. Its probably do for one anyways so change that fuel filter and that should solve your problems.

Check your exhaust system, some bolts used to loose or gone on Altima 02-06. Especially check the bolt close to the joint between exhaust manifold and front pipe. Check if your sway bar rubbing your exhaust pipe.

SOURCE: 2003 Nissan Altima 2.5S, Check Engine Light Problem.

this problem could be caused by the mass air flow censor, i had the same problem with my car. it is really pricey at the dealer so you might want to check elsewhere for this part. I found one at a scrap yard for 85% less that the dealer and i also got life time warranty, the dealer does not offer any warranty on this part.

Hi,
It starts and runs OK, correct?

Check your fluid level - Directions in the Owner's Manual.

Are you pushing the brake pedal b4 trying to move the lever (sorry, have to ask)?

Does the lever move @ all? Into Neutral?

Is the Check Engine Light on?

Sounds like you'll need to have it towed to a shop. Call the Better Business Bureau for a reference, or recommendations from family/friends.

Vehicle will not start. Had the fuel pump replaced at a dealer about two years ago. the last time it would'nt start I took it to a garage close to my house and they told me the fuel pump needed to be...

you could be getting air in the fuel system lines, sometimes caused by heat , but most the time its caused by a tiny leak in the fuel system itself, on the end of the rail that leads to the fuel injectors there is a bolt head, loosen it as someone else turns the key to the on position, if the pump is working correctly you should have fuel blasting out of that loosened bolt, if not, you have a pump problem, if it does, then you have an other problem, if the car turns over but won't start , you need to check for spark on the plugs, ( thats the easiest way ) you can see how to do that in this video along with some other things to check , watch the part about spark plugs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=064Ilsz8Fzg&feature=related

it is a fuel pump mostly
but first check the fuel pump relay .
then make that test for the pump to make sure it is bad
unplug the fuel line (hose) from the throttle body tell a friend to make the key on position(not to turn it ) if the hose fail to squirt a dose of fuel then sure the fuel pump is dead

Hi,

Did you happen to go to the Nissan dealer to have your ECU scanned by their computer?

With those parts replace without any diagnostic testing, its like your shop is guessing on something?

Having trouble with starting. most times is starts

Problem most likely won't go away, and it could strand you and cost a lot more to have towed.

The fuel pump can be tested by a competent mechanic.

Don't throw parts @ it hoping to fix it. Google your issue and do some research, you may find the answer online.

The accelerator is a potentiometer connected to a pedel and the wires go directly to the ECM. If the AWU( accelerator Working Unit) was bad the engine would run constant at 1800-200 rpm. Do any codes come up? I will do some more research and repost.
