This is a CD player, and when I hit the disc button, the display says "no tape" and shows a cassette tape icon. Volume does not respond. Everything else appears to be working on the screen... its almost like it thinks it is a tape player and doesn't recognize that speakers are plugged in...

THIS IS A RADIO PROBLEM, THIS PROBLEM WILL REQUIRE THE RADIO BEING SENT OUT TO AN AUTHORIZED FACTORY ELECTRONICS REPAIR CENTER, THERE IS NO BLOWN FUSE OR THE RADIO WOULD NOT EVEN TURN ON.
SOURCE: Think there is a battery drain somewhere
Their is possibly a short. I would first isolate the problem. Disconnect the CD player and radio. If you can disconnect it then remove the radio fuse.
Start and drive the car for 15 minutes or so. Shut it off, and let it sit for a while. Then go out and start the car. Repeat this until you are sure that your problem is with the radio or wiring.
If The car fails to start and is having a repeat of the problem you have a parasidic draw on the battery from somewhere.

battery problem, has few TSB for battery condition
SOURCE: Radio volume knob turns but won't change volume.
It 's the unit. bring it to a repair facility( fairly easy to remove) and have them do the repair . Its a lot cheaper than buying a new unit. If you decide to do this let me know and I'll tell you how to remove and install the unit.

probably a fuse, unless its an aftermarket radio that lost complete memory mode, and need to be re coded to work. the easiest way to check this is to look for the power wire, on your car its a blue wire with a yellow stripe for the battery one, and a gray wire for the ignition one that supply the radio with 12 volts, see if they have power,
