Key worked fine in van yesterday. Today the interior light flash, won't turn over and horn starts blowing. Must be a security issue, but can't find Pass Key fuse listed in owners manual to check if it's blown. Where is this fuse (the #)? Any help appreciated. Thanks

I have keyless entry, but could it just be the key? Or the fuse?

  • Anonymous Jan 03, 2013

no. once you unlock the doors the thief is disarm. is that happening . it sounds like your thief /lock control module is the problem. you may need to reprogram the keyless it is very easy

it sounds like the immobilizer is faulty. this will shut off the electrical feed to the starter motor. you will need to take it to a garage to get this fixed.

hope this helps.

Starter solenoid , or wire that leads to it.

Also , if standard transmission , may be the switch on clutch pedal is intermitant.

Engine won't turn over unless it thinks you have your foot on the clutch.

if all else fails get an air horn and blow it at the same time the horn gets pressed to make the inspector think it works. ;)
Try popping the hood on your car and look for the horn. They should be up near the front by the radiator or headlights then take the connections off and replace them securely. If no luck there replace the fuse, the fuses dont always look blown when they stop functioning. After that take the horns out of your car (usually just a screw to dismount the bracket holding the two horns to the panel.) and manually hook power up to them by touching wires to the ports and then power on the wire. (i know that we allways make sure there isnt power to the wire before we need there to be there because its just not safe...right?) At this point you should know your problem. If not than you need to test your power leading into your horn.

Horn doesn't blow. i have changed the fuse. it only blows with remote key lock

Should be clear that the problem is in the steering column horn mechanism, but to fix it you will need to remove the air bag.. Are you competent to do that safely?

2009 pontiac montana won't start and the horn honks

Have a load test done on the battery as what you have said points top a bad battery cell. With the horn working the indication is that the voltage in the battery falls below that required for the alarm to work so it is reading it as someone stealing the battery and when you release the key the battery voltage is sufficient to turn the alarm back off.

I have a 2012 Windstar van drove it fine yesterday and got up the next morning and guess what it didn't want to start at all.Light, radio and windows work fine but van wont start. Why?

Drop it into neutral and try starting it there, if not check your fuses, could be a fuel pump or engine fuse that has blown. Also try a different key, the transponder may have failed in that one. good luck.

Why was the battery replaced? Theres no reason the the 100 amp fuse to blow unless the alternator is shorted or you hooked up the battery backwards. I think the 100 amp fuse goes to the alternator. If it was hooked up backwards then you may have engine computer damage.

It definitely sounds like the electrical part of your ignition isn't working properly. When you turn the key, the lck and tumbler turns on the ign. switch in which sends power to the rest of the car.
