You should remove the excess immediately. This can be done in two ways 1. Remove the drain plug on the pan under the motor. If you do not want to drain all of the oil, attach a vacuum hose from a vacuum cleaner at the oil fill on the valve cover. This creates a vacuum on th engine and prevents all the oil from draining at once. Otherwise 2. Drain all the oil and the refill to recommended level. Over fill of the oil creates air bubbles that prevent proper lubrication of the engine.

You can get a free scan at Autozone or Oreillys. I would think that you have relief valves in the system because the pressure can vary from idle to top end with a normal amount of oil.
If you blew out the intake manifold gasket you would be feeding more air into the engine at the same throttle position. This would rev it up. But to not be able to shut off the engine with the switch is strange.
Try disconnecting the small wires to the starter relay. If the relay is backfeeding voltage to the keyswitch your keyswitch might stay hot. It should not be oil related though.
You can try the master power relays under the hood, one of them may be melted and won't release. Would be interested to see a post of what you eventually found out. Good Luck.
SOURCE: overfilled with oil above max on dip stick
You must drain some off via the sump plug at the base of the engine. Too much oil will kill the catalyst in no time.

SOURCE: overfilled the engine with oil now car is smoking
If you think you put in too much oil, and you see a lot of foam on the dipstick after-wards and also if you notice lots of smoke coming out of the exhaust ,then you may have to drain some of the oil out.
Also if you overfill your engine with oil then it blows the crank case oil seal and it builds up a lot of Odd Pressure and this is not good for the car engine.
Due to too much oil:---- High pressure may develop in the crankcase from having too much oil in the engine and can lead to oil leakage, as well as premature engine wear and damages. Just get it drained ASAP.
Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.
