Raised vehicle up and removed tires. Right side spins easily and quietly. Driver side has alot of resistance and rough spots while turning. Noise seems to be coming from either cv joint or where it goes into differential. This happened after using 4 wheel drive. Front left tire started to lock up so i switched back to 2 wheel drive. Only front left wheel/axle affected. Is there a bearing on the differential where axle enters? Since the right side is unaffected, it leads me to believe it is not the differential that is the problem but the driver side cv joint. Is this correct? Thank you!

SOURCE: Vibration and noise from front end while driving
Jack up the front end and put stands under it and block rear wheels. Look at axle boots and see if they are cracked. Try turning wheel back and forth sharply and see if you can hear any clicking. Problem could be outer axle joints. If the boots are cracked or you hear a clicking noise you will have to replace the axle. The axle and boot come as a complete unit. Please let me know what you find out.
SOURCE: humming noise from right front tire and front tire
could be ball joint tie rods alignment lift it n check to see if the tire has any play wen u shoake it by grabbin both sides and just a small back n forth movement to see any unusual play. if your not good at this take it to an alignment guy n theyll check the suspension before they do anything

The front axle isnt disengaging completely. You need to probably replace the vaccum solinoid located right above your distributor on the firewall. To test you simply disconnect the two vaccum lines and splice them together. Then turn the 4wd on and see if all is normal.
