if your hood latch is loose there should be two bolts that hold the latch in place tighten those then follow ed's suggestion

On either side of the radiator support, there are 2 black rubber knobs. Turning them anti-clockwise raises them, and stops the hood from being loose. Try that & let me know if that helps you hout. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

2004 toyota corolla hood wont stay shut

there is a safety latch in the lock that you have to pull sideways to get the bonnet open after you pull the cable
That stops the hood from opening at speed
the latch is adjustable ( mechanic can do it )
replace it if it shows signs or damage or wear

1995 Toyota Corolla Hood will not latch

Check that the catch that the release cable pulls on is returning freely to catch on the cone shaped bolt head that holds the hood closed. Try spraying it with something like WD-40 and move the lever to free it.

Can't get the hood to latch when closed on a 1995 Toyota

The latch may be closed already. Have someone pull the cable inside and move the latch by hand to the open position again.

Loss of power on acceleration on 1998 toyota corolla ...only once in awhile

This is definately a fuel system related problem.

Have a look at your fuel pump which is located in the fuel tank beneath the back seat. Also, replace the fuel filter located in the hood very close to the battery compartment.

Good luck.

1992 toyota corolla hood does not latch closed

have you lubricated the mechanism? They all need it. Go to a salvage yard and get a used latch assembly. Keep it lubed.

My 1993 toyota pickup's hood release wont open the hood. The cable still has tension on it but the inside release is loose & flops up & down.Any suggestions.Thank you!

Stretched or frayed cable, or possible mechanism seized or broken. Try looking up under hood in latch area, as someone pulls cable lever inside, & watch what happens. You may see a piece getting pulled , and be able to get to it with a screwdriver to assist it in going further to open the latch. Then inspect cable close for conditions I mentioned above. You may be able to tighten up the slack (adjust) once the hood is up, otherwise a new cable may be necessary. If worse comes to worse, you may have to grab that slack in the cable with a pair of vise grips & give a little more pull to get it unlatched. Make sure you lube the mechanism under hood too.
