!997 Tahoe, the right rear turn and brake lights dont work.

I have gone to two mechanices and no one can fix the brake lights on my 1999 chevy tahoe and i dont know what to do i need help because i have been stoped by the police and its not good HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had this problem with a 1997 suburban and a 1999 tahoe. I fixed it on the suburban by replasing the complete light assembly, and on the tahoe i just replaced the circuit board were the light bulbs and harness plug in its easy and inexpensive. good luck!

Try pressing the switch by hand and see if this turns it off, if so try some packing on the door where it contacts the switch

Sounds like the turn signal switch. Top brake light is wired direct so it will always work.

I had this problem, and to be honest, it happened to the left side about a week later...it's the board that the bulbs plug into...it's a very common problem with this model. So popular that you can normally get the socket board off the shelf at a parts store! it's extremely simple to replace, and I replaced all the bulbs at the same time!

There is a clip that gets worn on the brake pedal that holds the switch tight to one side. It must be put on correctly or else the brake lights will come on for a split second and then go out when you push the brake pedal down further.

Did you ever figure this out? I've got the same exact problem with my tahoe.

First thing i would do is chg. the break light switch, and make sure to chk. all grounds around tailights, sometimes if there is a ground problem it will travel back thru the hot wire to get a ground, witch in turn makes everything go wackey.
