Electronic throttle control indicator light

I hope someone can help. 2008 dodge avenger has recently started lurching forward when the gas is applied. The ETC indicator light is now flashing. Can this be fixed by myself? I have little money and this is my only car. Thanks for any help Bob

I need to replace the ETC unit. You suggest the "part" and that took me to something not even relatated to this problem. I need to replace the ETC device

SOURCE: dodge avenger 2008

It depends on who you go to and if you want it done right. I went to the Dealership and had them put front brakes on my 2008 Dodge Avenger and it has been in the shop every 2-4 months since then for front brakes. They replaced the entire front brake system and my 08 Avenger is still eating brakes. I finally took it to a friend who owns a auto repair shop he replace the rotors which are total about 115.00 for each from AutoZone and replaced the brake pads for 50.00 so it cost me just parts 155.00 and my Avenger is running smoothly since haven't had problems with the brakes since. Go to Midas and let them change it for roughly 89.00 avoid the dealership at all cost they can run 200.00-500.00 depending on if it is just the brakes pads or if it is the rotors and pads.

SOURCE: Electronic Throttle Control light

I took my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi to a mechanic that works from a garage at his home, recommended by a friend of mine. He removed and cleaned the throttle body and sensor(s?), then reinstalled them, and then disconnected both battery cables and held them together for 2 minutes so that the engine controller could reboot with the factory default settings, then reconnected them. I had bought a can of throttle body cleaner on my way over to his house for about $3.00. He charged me $40.00 for the job. This was done mid-February, about 10 weeks and 2500 miles ago. So far, the problem Has Not happened again, the truck has been running great!

SOURCE: Electronic Throttle Control Problem

The only advice for a car this new is you will need to get the codes to proceed. I'm assuming you would not know what the codes mean when you get them so the next advise would be to let them fix it. You really have no other choice.

SOURCE: The Electronic Throttle Control indicator light is

The electronic engine controls are under warranty for 10 years/100,000 miles by Federal law. Take it to the dealer and they HAVE to fix it at no cost to you.
If you have over 100K on it post back and I'll walk you through some basics.
