The fuel pump has nothing to do with the oil.your oil sending unit could be bad causing the poblem you describe but not the fuel filter

Fuel pump location on a 1987 Mitsubishi mighty max

Electric pumps are located either in the tank, or in a little protective box or cover right near the tank (like Subarus, some toyotas, hondas). Check around the tank, maybe follow the fuel line back from the front-you'll find it.

How to check the radiator in a 87 mighty max mitsubishi

go to a commercial retail auto parts store like pep boys, advance auto or auto zone, they will 'rent' one for free-it is a pressure tester that attaches to the radiator where the cap is located and you pump it up to apply pressure to the cooling system-it has a gauge so you can see if it is leaking or losing pressure.

I have a 1987 mighty max truck that has been sitting for years. The motor turns over but wont start unless I pour fuel into carb. Where do I start to make this truck run again?

I expect the carb has become heavily fouled, old gas will quickly gum things up. I'd drain the tank, add new fuel and rebuild the carb. Also insure you have fuel to the carb (possible failed fuel pump)

If I may help further, please let me know,
Tom

1986 mighty max 2.0 engine makes a ticking noise most of the time. At higher rpms it stops. What could it be ? It kind of sounds ike a vaccum leak ? maybe ?

A ticking sound is usually a valve and if it stops at higher rpms I would guess it is oil related. Seems like the oil pump might be getting tired and not pumping enough at low rpms.

91 mighty max wont start when cold

Next time when cold and it will not start remove a spark plug or two and see if the engines flooded. If so there are two things that come to mind; 1, worn injectors, leaking as engine sits with time causing difficult starts 2: bad oxygen sensor, if failed engines tend to run rich and the ECU may have your injectors pump heavy amounts of fuel to keep from running lean; often times you'll see poor fuel MPG if O2 sensor failed.

I hope this may have assisted you,
Tom
