2005 Escape starter replacement

In old vehicles I would say follow the Positive cable from the battery to the starter. Look like this car is like my grandma sentra the starter is up top.

Can not locate the starter on a 2005 ford escape

Having a problem locating the starter on a 2005 ford escape

(8th digit of the VIN code is the Engine) H eng.code a 2.3L 4 cyl. Hybird/ Z eng. code a 2.3L 4 cyl. / and a 1 eng.code a 3.0L 6 cyl. Couldn't say if one was a Mazda engine. Usually if you have a Mazda part on a Ford it's the Transmission.

Check battery cables for corrosion and good connection.
Try to boost it with jump starter.
Try to tap on starter while attempt to start.
To me sounds like a bad starter.

Front side of the motor at the transmission. It is difficult to get to. I know the 2005 version appears to use an induction starter which is difficult to get to but fairly dependable. If your having starting problem I would look for another cause though, I rarely find issues with the escape starter.

sounds like the starter, the fuel pump is in the gas tank
