I have a 2009 GMC Canyon with just over 43,000 miles. The check engine light came on about 2 weeks ago. I had it checked and the code said P0017 crank shaft position sensor & cam shaft position coalition bank one sensor. What does this mean? I am due to have e-check (emisions check in the state of Ohio). Will this impact the test results? What should I expect to be the cost for repair?

if you look at the front of the motor you will notice one cyclinder is further forward then the other... that first cyclinder would be 1. i'm guessing the side opposite to cyclinder one would be bank two.

Check the fuel pump pressure. should be between 60 to 66 psi. There isn't an easy answer for this one. You may need to perform component testing and a diagnostic check.

Go to an Advance or Auto Zone and ask them to read your fault codes. This is a service they will do for free in hopes of selling you a replacement part. You likely have a faulty sensor that is causing the light to come on. Good Luck! I hope this is very helpful!

the bank 2 sensor2 is used to check that your catylitic converter is working on that side of the exhaust. without seeing the car and doing sensor tests, it would be a gamble to say replace the sensor. so you can replace it and see what happens or take it to your favorite shop for further diagnosis

Theres is a way, you can do it with a scan tool or remove a battery connection for 5min, the check engine light can come on for many reasons, when the computer sees a problem with the engine sensors or trany that is out of specs it will turn on the light and store a codes in the computer, this codes will tell you what part of what system is failing, i would have the codes read to see what the problem is, this way you dont do any further damage, many autopart stores will scan the codes for free, i think you should get the code or codes and i will help you further, good luck and i hope this helps.
