SOURCE: what does the check engine light vcm code

this has to do with the engines ability to warm up and meter the fuel. either the thermostat is sticking or the coolant temp sensor is out of range. there are 2 of them at least, one for the guage and one for the pcm. if you find it is the t-stat sticking, replace with jaguar parts.

XJ 6 1991 has fuel code 44 set and car will not start. A couole of time before in the morning you start vehicle and it will not take gas ans runs poorly clears up after a couple of sconds but has slight hestitation on taking off from lights

My check engine light is on. The VCM says: PAO.
The PAO you see on your dash in the VCM (Vehicle Condition Monitor) *is really* -PAD-.

I had the same beacon on my 1991 XJ6, it refers to the brake pads being worn.

Fuse 3 is a notice that there is a misbehaving fuse in your 3rd fuse box, which is located inside the center console (armrest)

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT MY MY 1994 JAG XJ6 POPPED ON. IT RUNS GREAT, I'V HEARD NO ALARMS AT ALL, AND EVERYTHING STILL WORKS GREAT. I DID TRY TO PUNCH VCM BUTTON TO SEE IF IT THREW ME A CODE BUT IT DID NOT....
You can only retrieve the vcm read out code when that car was run, turned off and then the ignition is on(not running), then oush VCM and the code will flash - "fuel failure 69" or something like that. (SOME CODES LIKE 69 ARE ERRONEOUS CODES AND SHOULD BE RESET)What you can do is disconnect the battery for 45 seconds to reset the code and if it comes back on then there is an issue.

BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT THE BATTERY MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RADIO CODE, IF NOT THEN EMAIL ME AND I WILL SHOW YOU ANOTHER WAY TO RESET THE LIGHT.

FUEL FAIL 14 CODE 14
this is the most common error code, just means the one of the nods in fuel pump misfired, on every model other than the ones for usa market, after clearing the error code on vcm the check engine light would reset. for our cars its programmed to stay on.
also get fail 17 fuel 17 same thing
it will not effect the running of the car or its performance
may run a little rich
