SOURCE: the engine knocks at higher rpm, only at high rpms

First no matter what check the oil level and then if it's a high rev tapping you need to allow the oil to flow through the engine block to try to coat and settle your valves.

But if it's really " knocking " sounds like your lifters and rocker arms are allowing your piston rods to clatter and that needs to be looked into fast.

SOURCE: 95 dodge dakota having hard time shifting.

Try a tranny service change a place that changes the filter the pan gasket and fluid not some of these quick places that just drain a couple quarts out of the tranny lines and thats it that wont help but a complete tranny service should help.

SOURCE: 1998 Dodge RAM 1500 won't upshift, slips out of gear

have you dropped the pan to see whats the bands are set at, any debris in pan bottom, whats your governor pressure, if bands are ok, but gov pressures are not relative to speed 1 psi per mph up to 95-127psi, port is on pass side of case rear top right, scan tool would be very helpful, your must have mil light on for this problem, gov dtc's, replace gov transducer as gov solniod as a pair, no exceptions, also are there any 02 sensor dtc's, shorted to voltage, this wil make pcm do stupid things to trans shift, affecting gov signals. GOOD LUCK RDJRP

SOURCE: transmission is not shifting gears while driving

First check fluid level. is check engine light on? is speedometer working? this can be caused by a malfuncition vehicle speed sensor or a mechanical condition such as a clogged filtre.

What are the plus and minus signs on the gear shift 0f 2015 Dodge Dart and what do they do?

It's just to place the automatic trans into a "Manual" mode. The transmission will still shift itself, but will rev to a higher RPM before shifting if you want a bit more performance. Unless you are racing the car, the standard drive mode is fine and easier on internal parts.

My 93 dodge Dakota runs up to 4000 rpms before it shifts but it still idles really high after that. its a v6 3.9L automatic. I think its the shift linkage but I don't know how to adjust it. ive...

If it goes into gear correctly it's not the linkage. I.e drive reverse etc. I would suspect a pressure issue in the trans for the high shift rpm. Possibly low pump pressure or a valve body issue. The high idle could be a result of this or possibly a sticking cable if it has cruise. Possible vacuum issue also.

I have a Dodge 3500 Ram with an Automatic 6 speed transmission. I pull a Gooseneck trailer with a GVW of 16k lbs. I have no issues when I am on the road, but when I leave the highway or I'm in heavy...

sounds like you may havea torque converter lockup issue, one way to check is while in slower traffic (15-35mph) gear down your transmission such that you are at a higher rpm (2000-2500) then take your foot all the way off the throttle, if it is in lockup your engine rpm will stay about the same, if not it will go to about idle.

If the tcc doesn't unlock while shifting it will shift very hard and if it slips it will make your temperature increase

Rpm's going 4500 before shifting to second gear second and third are ok whether in overdrive or not .year ago was in accident trans run two quarts low for one hour.trans feels good just delay on shift from...

Torque converter is probraly going bad, the automatic gear selector having trouble seeking or going into another gear unless high rpm to select it out to another gear. Could also be your 1gear is getting bad. you may need to take it to the shop as in the long term, it can damage more. You could check to see if fluid is up to level too, as this does happen when it's low in transmission fluid.

5 speed manual trans wont go into 2nd

the syncronizers are out on your trans for third gear and as far as the lifters try running some high octane gas with some oil and gas treatment before going into the motor to eliminate that first.

The power light is on on the dash of a suzuki vitara v6 automatic. What does this indicate?

turn the power switch off for the transmission. It is not a warning light. It just indicates the power switch for the trans is on which lets the trans delay shifting in each gear so it allows the engine to get more RPM'S so it produces more HP and Torque.
