SOURCE: removing/replacing a 2000 kia sportage 4x4 4 dr heater core

The heater is located under the dash board to the right and down from the radio. To remove and replace it you will have to remove the dash board down to the fire wall. Also, you will have to disconnect two hoses that connect up to it from the engine compartment. These are located in the back of the engine and down on the firewall about midway. Once you remove the dash board and locate the heater core you will be able to see the location of these two hoses. Removing the heater core is time consuming but it will save you about 700 dollars.

SOURCE: I need to replace the heater core in my 1986 Ford

under the dash on the pass side there is a large black plastic box. take out the 6 screws and pull off the cover. there is a wire attached to the top that controls a flap, that just lifts off. under the hood loosen and remove the 2 host clamps right at the firewall area. Push the metal tubes in to the firewall. Then reach back in from under the dash and pull out the old core. put the new one in reverse order.

Now you need to check your heater core. And the amount of antifreeze. Then you could also try to flush your system.

88 bronco II, heater hose going to water is cold, and my heater blows cold air, is my water pump going bad? the return heater hose is warm, it was heating once in awhile now it don't heat at all just cold...

I would try flushing heater core to see if it's plugged. I don't think it's waterpump, your rig would be overheating if it was. Leaking is most common waterpump failure.

Heater does not work in my 1981 Bronco I've read that it could be the blend door actuator but I still want to replace the Heater Core the truck has A/C but I don't know if the core is in the cab or in the...

it sits in a box above your passenger's feet. this is not a big project as it precedes all the airbags and wrap around dashboards. may want to find an old chiltons or haynes on ebay. most likely very cheap.

How do you bypass the heater core on a 1998 Ford Bronco 2?

Disconnect both hoses from the core and one of them also from the engine. Hook the other one back to where you took one off, making a loop. The picture below is not a bronco, but gives you the idea.
By the way, your core is easy to replace. It almost pops right out from under the dash. I ahve included picture below.

Remove and replace heater core procedures:

  1. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core tubes and plug hoses.
  2. In the passenger compartment, remove the five screws attaching the heater core access cover to the plenum assembly and remove the access cover.
  3. Pull the heater core rearward and down, removing it from the plenum assembly.

To install:

  1. Position the heater core and seal in the plenum assembly.
  2. Install the heater core access cover to the plenum assembly and secure with five screws.
  3. Install the heater hoses to the heater core tubes at the dash panel in the engine compartment. Do not over-tighten hose clamps.
  4. Check the coolant level and add coolant as required. Connect the negative battery cable.
  5. Start the engine and check the system for coolant leaks.

I have a 1989 ford bronco V6 the heater doesn't work, It works sometimes for just a minute and then goes back to cold. Help it has been 7 degrees when I take my kids to school and with no heat it feels...

chances are your core is the problem.

remove the two hoses that go through the firewall and flush water through them both to clean the core. My 70 mustang did the same thing and I flushed the core and it works fine now.
