If your car has one wire coming out of the distributor at the bottom going to the coil, you can use a test light between thet wire and ground to see if your coil is getting a pulse. If it has a coil pack, then you might need to clean the connector on the coil pack. follow the coil wires from the plug back to find the coil pack. If your car has points in the distributor, you can connect the test whole circuit by hooking the test light across the points. if it's a coil pack, you might replace the crankshaft position sensor to see that does it. also, use the test light to check power to all fuses.

sounds like you might need to go to auto zone for a free diagnostic checkup.

  • Anonymous Dec 22, 2012

Sorry, the crankshaft position sensor is on the side or bottom of the engine on the block look for a plastic two wire sensor. If you remove it - look at the end for wear. they always seem to test good, even when bad...

Replace spark plug's

Things you will need
Spark Plug Socket And Wrench of the correct size for your spark plugs

Basic Instructions.
Step 1
Locate your spark plugs
look for other obstructions besides your spark plug wires
if you have any other obstructions you will need to remove them as well to gain access to your spark plugs.
Step 2
Remove the spark plug wire for one single spark plug at a time.
this will insure you will not replace the wrond spark plug wire to the incorrect spark plug,
if not done this way you could change the firing order of your engine.
Step 3
With your spark plug Socket and wrench rotate the spark plug in a counter clock wise direction for removing.
Step 4
After you have removed your spark plug insert your new replacement spark Plug into your spark plug socket before inserting it into the correct location. spark plug sockets are made to hold on to the spark plug for easy removal and install.
Step 5
insert your new spark plug,
before you rotate your spark plug for tightening rotate the spark plug a 1 quarter turn in the counter clock wise direction, then start tightening the spark plug by rotating it in a clockwise direction
This will insure you will not strip the threads.
Step 6
Continue rotation your spark plug in the clock wise direction untill snug, then with just a lil more pressure tighten it up just a little more.
be sure to not put to much force on the spark plug after it has been snug, you just have to apply a little more pressure but not to much that could cause it to break.
Step 7
After tightening the spark plug replace the correct spark plug wire.
then move on to the next spark plug and follow the same instructions.

if you have any other visiable obstructions preventing you access for replacing your spark plugs you will need instructions on how to remove them parts. i have just instructed you on how to remove and reinstall the spark plugs only.

Cant find the spark plug location on 2002 4cyl tacoma

Locate the spark plug cover on the engine. On some Toyota Tacoma engines, the cover is across the top of the engine. On others, it is along the side 4 cyl. Remove the cover to reveal the ignition coils and spark plugs wires. The spark plug wires are plugged directly into the engine and the ignition coils are in the tip of the spark plug wire.
Remove the coil and wire from the spark plug. Twist and pull the plug out of the engine. Remove the spark plug from the cylinder well with a socket extender and socket wrench. Turn the wrench to the left to unscrew the spark plug from the engine.

Discard the old spark plug and apply a coat of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plug.

Insert the new spark plug into the socket. Use the socket and extension to screw the spark plug into place.

Return the ignition coils and spark plug wires to the engine and turn it to lock the plug in place. Repeat the entire the process with the remaining spark plugs.

Replace the spark plug cover when all of the spark plugs are replaced.

Good luck and hope this helps and The spark plug tension may range between 11 and 15 foot pounds, depending on the size of the spark plug. The correct tension is indicated on the spark plug's packaging.
