No power at all

Battery is charged but now power what so ever. No lights radio or anyrthing. Would it be fuses or ignition switch?

An ignition switch supplies voltage to the ignition control module and/or the ignition coil. Often an ignition sytem thas two wires connected to the run terminal of the ignition switch. On is connected to the module. The other is connected to the primary resistor and coil. The start terminal of the switch is also wired to the module.
You can check for voltage using either a 12-volt test light or a digital multimeter (dmm).
To use a test light:
  • Turn the ignition key off and disconnect the wire connector at the module.
  • Disconnect the S terminal of the starter solenoid to prevent the engine from cranking when the ignition is in the run position.
  • Turn the key to the run position and probe the red wire connection to check for voltage.
  • Check for voltage at the battery terminal of the ignition coil using the test light.
  • Next, turn the key to the start position and check for voltage at the white wire connector at the module and the battery terminal of the ignition coil. If voltage is present, the switch and its circuit are okay.
To do the same test using a DMM:
  • Turn the ignition switch to the off position and back-probe, with the meter's positive lead, the power feed wire at the module.
  • Connect the meter's negative to a good ground at the distributor base.
  • Turn the ignition to the run or start position as needed, and measure the voltage.
  • The reading should be at least 90% of battery voltage.

I have no power to the fuse that brings power to radio dome light,and rear defogger.How can I get power.
The rear demister requires a large current that is not often available at the switch; in this case an ignition supply tends to be used via the switch to energise a relay which in turn switches a battery supply therefore the circuit often has two fuses.
Sometimes, GM cars especially, the demister switch was fed from the alternator ignition (battery or charging) light to prevent it operating until the engine is running.
For the last decade or sometimes longer it is a computer in the CAN-bus system that switches on such equipment and the switch merely sends a request to the computer to do so.

Regarding faults with late model computerised cars it is unwise to do anything other than check fuses without access to a wiring diagram and even then a person is severely limited without specialised diagnostic equipment. Earlier cars of course can be diagnosed with patience and a test lamp.

2002 elantra no power to wipers radio head lights and heat
Please check for codes in the OBD system. Check Battery and Charging System. If no codes perform following test procedure.
Tests/Procedures: 1. Check the Black power connector in the under dash fuse box. Wiggle it with the lights on and see if they malfunction.

2. Wiggle the wiring harness from the ignition switch around the steering column with the lights on and see if they malfunction.

3. Monitor the key on battery voltage from the ignition switch at terminal 3, Red wire at the ignition switch to terminal 3 of connector I/P-E in the under dash fuse box.

4. See if the vehicle has any aftermarket accessories installed that may be tapped into that Red wire from the ignition switch to the fuse box.

1989 buick park avenue battery wont stay charged
A possibility is an ignition fuse has blown when the radio was removed. Does the battery light light up when the ignition is turned on. The alternator needs that light to energise and charge, (without it you just run the battery flat), failing that charge the battery, connect an amp meter in series, with every thing switched off, should have a reading of about 0.5 amps (Time clock). If above 2amp that is what is draining the battery. Watch meter and pull fuses one at a time, when the reading drops, that is the circuit/equipment that's causing the trouble.

Power door locks do not work unless the ignition switch is on, radio and dome lights also do not work.
look for another fuse box in or under dash. still sounds like you have a blown fuse. look in owners manual for all fuse box locations,including underhood electrial center. good luck.

Lets take this one step further. Do your turn signals or radio work or even the defroster fan? If not then you might have a problem with either the ignition side of your ignition switch. Or possibly a blown fuse for the ignition or starter. With no dash lights I'm inclined to think it's the switch. Some vehicles fuses work for the entire ignition switch circuit. Others only involve the ignition side of the starter circuitry. Without more information regarding the engine and year modle and such that's about all I can say.

I just put a new battery on and every time the car sits for a few days the battery goes down completely...what could be causing this..it does have a newer radio ,,,could it have a short some where
I would rule out a short (in the traditional sense). A short would have blown a fuse under normal circumstances.

I am leaning to a light being on in the radio when the ignition is off. A light in the radio would significantly weaken your battery with 24 hours of use over several days.

To prove this, disconnect the power from your radio ... both the power for the radio and the power for the light inside.

check fuse block for shorts, melting discoloring,on back side of fuse panel around starter relay. loose connection causes fuse block to over heat will need to be replaced.hope this helps.

Hi i have a 1998 jaguar xj sport v8 the problem is i went to start it the ignation lights came on and then went of now i have nothing i checked the battery it is ok i checked the main fuses in the boot...
check all leads coming from the battery with an ohm meter, should read zero, no resistance, make sure you do this test with the battery dis-conected otherwise you can burn out the meter or the fuse in the meter. if you need more help get back to me
