My car will die out then it will start right back up
A timing belt will cause other damage if it broke. Do a compression check to see if any valves were bent and are now open if the valves do not have any compression. If all cylinders have compression, then the timing chain did not break. Note, my 2002 Saturn L100 had a broken timing chain and 3 of 4 cylinders did not have compression. My solution was to have someone install a used engine.
