Coolant level full? Rad fan operational? Possible defective thermostat. Worse case plugged rad or head gasket

SOURCE: luggage carrier slats for 2008 chev. equinox

I purchased them but did not have them installed. the instructions seem simple. 1 with flat bedded tool pry the plastic covers up. 2 open the latches on the crossbars and slide them into position. 3 replace plastic covers. I have not yet try to install them yet with the same worries of scrathing or damaging the covers. The illustration shows th entire cover to come up but does not give a hint to wher you should pry it from.

Anty other info would be appreciated.

SOURCE: my 2006 chev. equinox fan& cool&heating

There are no replaceable bulbs. The repair for this condition is replacement of the HVAC control module.

Overheating/no heat
My first guess is the cooling system is low on liquid coolant. That would cause both symptoms. The radiator can be low even if the overflow tank is full. The cooling system can have air pockets.

Gauge goes between 3/4 and redline , back and forth .. give it some gas and heat goes cold and gauge get high to redline
Sounds more like air in the system, bleed the system and make sure the radiator cap is good. If it still does that then the system is taking air in and needs to be checked further.

The temperature gauge in my 2007 Chev Equinox... is up passed the red section... all the way up to the temperature icon. My car is not overheating. What can be done to fix this? How safe is it to drive...
Its probably the gage itself. A quick stop by a Dealership and they can check the instrument cluster gage by gage. For free maybe! If not the gage, could be the engine temperature sensor.
As long as the engine is NOT overheating, you can still drive it.

First you need to find out how the water is getting inside. It could be as simple as the bulb socket is not fully tight, or the gasket between the socket and the reflector housing is damaged or missing. Or, the housing could have a crack in it.
