Follow these steps:
1. Tighten the cylinder head bolts to 44 ft-lbs (60 N-m)
2. Rotate the cylinder head bolts another 95 degrees
3. Now tighten them an additional 95 degrees
4. You are done!

Not sure if any different from most cars as I haven not done it on an Equinox but 1st thing you want to do is remove the power terminal on the battery.
Most likely you will need a 14m wrench to remove the bolts that hold tge starter in place. If you can loosen the last bolt but dont remove it all the way so the starter can be lowered enough to look on the top side of it and remove the power cable and others terminals if it has any others. If multiple wires then make sure you reconect them the same way and dont cross them. You may be using a 7mm or 8mm wrench on the little nut and possibly a 12mm on the main power cable. Once all disconected remove the last bolt holding the stater and becareful not to drop it on yourself ad they are a bit heavy. Once out on the car check the new starter to make sure the replacement one you have is the same. Look at the bolt holes, diameter and length. Usually the new starter has new nuts for the terminals, use them and not the old ones. Crawl under car and reverse the same sequence. You may grunt here and there as this little units are heavy, dont over tighten the amounting bolts but mke sure they are tight. Once all done under car, reconnect battery terminal and crank your car, you may notice how smooth and quick the car starts up.... take the old starter back the parts store in the same box the new one came in and get your core fee back.

Usually a sign of something draining the battery.
The machine test probably showed the battery could hold a charge and the alternator was charging the battery.
You may need to have someone check for a power drain.
When the key switch is off, there may be a weak short to ground or a relay or component that is using power.

1) Your key fob could need a new battery.
2) Your fuses could need checking.

On the big fuse / relay box there should be a red plastic surronded terminal, may have a cap. This would be the positive terminal and the ground can be any metal on the engine, not the pulleys!

uasually you have to loosen 2 bolts one for each battery post 2 cables black ground- red positive + and replace them look at your battery to see how its on there first there are mius and positive signs on battery posts

3.3L Engine

1. Disconnect the battery negative - cable.

1. Disconnect the alternator field circuit plug.
2. Remove the B+ terminal nut and wire.
3. Loosen the adjusting T-bolt, but do not remove it.
4. Loosen the pivot bolt, but do not remove it either.
5. Remove the alternator drive belt.
6. Remove the adjusting T-bolt, pivot bolt, and mounting bolt, be careful not to loose the spacer.
7. Remove the alternator.

To install:

1. Attach the alternator to the support bracket. Tighten all bracket and alternator (except for the wiring nuts) bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
2. Install the B+ terminal nut and wire and tighten to 75 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
3. Install the drive belt onto the alternator pulley. Make certain that the belt is seated correctly on the pulley.
4. Connect the negative - battery cable.

3.5L Engine

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Loosen the lower mounting bolt but do not remove it.
3. Loosen the pivot bolt, but do not remove it.

1. Loosen the belt adjusting bolt.
2. Remove the alternator drive belt.
3. Remove the bracket.
4. Remove the lower mounting bolt and pivot bolt.
5. Remove the alternator.
6. Disconnect the alternator field circuit plug.
7. Remove the B+ terminal nut and wire.

To install:

1. Attach the alternator and bracket to the engine, then tighten the mounting bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
2. Install the drive belt onto the alternator pulley. Make certain that the belt is seated correctly on the pulley.
3. Install and tighten the B+ terminal nut and wire to 75 inch lbs. (9 Nm) onto the new alternator.
4. Connect the alternator field circuit plug.
5. Connect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the right front diagonal brace. The brace goes from the rad support to the fender area.Three bolts need to be removed.
   
3. Reposition the positive battery cable terminal cover (1).A red cover over the positive cable at the battery.It pops off.You may need a screw driver to pop it off.
   
4. Loosen the positive battery cable terminal nut.
5. Remove the positive battery cable terminal from the battery.
6. Reposition the underhood accessory wiring junction block.See steps 9-14.
   
7. Remove the battery retainer bolts (1) and retainer (2).
8. With the aid of an assistant, remove the battery.
9. Remove the electrical center cover (1).
10. Disconnect the positive battery cable from junction box
11. Remove the fasteners (1) securing the electrical center board (2).
12. Unlock the tabs on the electrical center board.
13. Lift up on the electrical center board.
14. Remove the fasteners (1) securing the electrical center bracket (2) to vehicle.
