I had the same problem with my 2000 Sedan DeVille DHS but it first showed up as the car dying when I tried to start it. The only way I could keep it running was to use the gas pedal. I cleaned the throttle body and thought this solved my problem but it returned and also went away with no apparent reason. I also started having problems with the car idling too fast, which would also go away. I removed the IAC valve (idle air control valve) and cleaned it. Thought this might have solved the problem but it came right back. After researching the internet I decided to replace the TPS (throttle position sensor) since it was a fairly inexpensive part ($34) and this didn't solve the problem. I finally replaced the IAC valve and the problem was solved. Told a friend of mine who was having the same problem with his Cadillac and it solved his problem. Delphi part number CV10012. Will find it on Amazon.com for $60 and free shipping. Was easy to install on my car. A dealer will charge you a fortune for the part and installation.

I am not sure if this will help you but PO27 is listed as "Open Throttle Signal Switch" which could mean that your throttle position sensor needs replacing. Although with Cadillacs, it could mean anything. I hope this helps...

Its on passenger side under rear seat cushion. Get in back seat FACING rear seatback, grab under lip of bottom seat cushion, and pull straight up. Disconnect seat heater connector (if so equipped) on passenger side and remove seat bottom. Tada! There ya go! Oh... btw. Its a $150 battery due to the venting system designed into it to vent fumes through a tube to the outside world. Thanks Cadillac!!! :(
