Is the check engine light on? you could have a bad ignition fail sensor, TPS sensor, or bad o2 sensor. it could also be a bad mass air flow sensor or a vacuum leak. without a code to help pin point the problem I'd start by checking those things first. Maybe try unplugging the mass airflow sensor and start it up and see if anything changes.
looking from above you need to remove the air filter housing to make life simple. look down the back over the starter motor and you will see the diff housing with the sensor just on the top. from underneath you wont see it but its easy to feel.
I have the same issue - the car cold will not shift out of first until the trans fluids are warmed for about 5 to 10 min. did anyone respond to your question?
