There r 2 cables on a gt 6 speed that r located at the top of the engine in back.. Do not touch the rear cable unless ur tibrron is shifted hard. The front cable is ur drift idle, theyre 2 nuts tightend den to secure it at a certian level , untighten the nuts and simply ajust the 2 nuts backwards do the cable isnt so tight and allows the engine to drop idle wen accelerater isnt pressed. Then do the same to the rear cable(2nd) cable untill u have ur tibron sounding just right..only sol_tion
sounds as if the accelerater cable broke, when you were able to throttle under the hood did you happen to notice if the accelerater cable was moving freely.
I had the same problem with my 91' crx it would idle and have a low rev i adjusted my tranny cable located below the battery tray and accelerated and shifted fine afterwards
First, open your hood and get somebody to work the gas pedal while you watch under the hood, and try and determine if it's catching on anything under there. Make sure it's not simply catching on the floor mat or something first. Spray the cable and mechanism with WD40 or any lubricant. If there is nothing obvious, and the lube doesn't help, the cable may be frayed. Inspect it closely. Let me know what you find out.
Its on the throttle body assemly.Follow the accelerater cable to the throttle body and the tps (throttle position switch) should be bolted to the end of the throttle shaft.
Congrats on a find.....even if there is bellypan cancer. The replacement is time consuming but not tough for even a novice mechanic. And by belly pan you mean the tunnel bottem plate? Only if you decide to replace the housing for the cable as well. There are aftermarket kits that allow you to attach the proper end to the cable after you push/thread it through an intact housing.
