Do you know if the coils are firing cylinders 3 and 4 ?
If they are you could have a problem with the injectors for those cylinders. Generally a trouble code that names a cylinder is for loss of power, not just for no spark to that cylinder.

Guys, what you are experiencing is the car built warning system. When your engine light blinks it indicates a Major Problem has occurred or is occurring in the engine. When this occurs the cars goes into a "safe," mode which means all power is cut by at least half in an effort to save the car from more major damage. You can take your VW to any large chain autoparts store (autozone, advance, etc) a lot of them are offering a free engine diagnosis. Do this if possible to see where the problems maybe coming from and ways to fix them.

A common plroblem on the 2.0 engine cars is the distributer, try changing that, if that doesnt work their is a sensor in the block right behind the oil filter than can cause the no start issue, but its not as common

Check to see if it's getting gas or spray some starter fluid into intake. If it fires, change fuel filter first and try it without starter fluid. If it doesn't start then change fuel pump.
