SOURCE: How much does it cost to have the hood latch on a

If you take it to the MBZ dealer you'll pay more than if you take it to a local reputable car body repair shop.
They can give you a free estimate as well.
It may be just an adjustment or you may need replacement cable or parts.... try a local body shop...they're great guys!

2005 quattro , battery is dead and hood wont release. Is it an elecrtonic release?

Heidi, No electric release. The latch is probably stuck. While you pull the interior hood release have an assistant push down and pull up repeatably/vigorously until hood releases from stuck position. Lube latch and cable before closing hood. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

I have a 98 eddie bauer ford explorer I can not puss the hood down and make it latch, how do I fix that problem fix it so it latches down?

the lever for the release cable is probably rusted up. If you look down into the latch you should see the cable attached to a lever. It may help to have somebody pull the hood release to help you find it. Spray the hood latch with some penetrating lube and push the lever back with a small long screwdriver. Be careful not to dislodge the cable from the lever. Pull on the hood release and if necessary push on the lever with the screwdriver. Continue lubing, pulling and pushing until everything works on its own.

Where can i get the hood release cable fixed or can it be fixed? will it cost

Im taking a chance at answering this question . Because if you don't work on cars or other things like that you likely won't understand what im about to tell you . There is a problem with the luberation at the hood latch and likely you can't get that open at the moumant . This is basicly a disign problem . You have the release inside the vehicle that you pull on to open the hood there is a cable attached to it . The cable runs to the hood release mechinsam and it tends to streach if the release mechinsam is not moveing freely .The way to open the hood at this point is to take a pair of vice grips and clamp them on the cable from the inside of the vehicle to the cable on the release cable be carful not to damage the cable but it has to be tight enough to pull the cable and at the same time have some one else push down on the hood over the latch mechinsam and the hood should pop so you can open it . THEN lubercate the latch with white lithium greese this will help in a big way but you may have to shorten the cable travel because the cable is streched and is now to long . You can do this by useing cable tys on the jacket of the the cable at the hood latch between the cable and the jacket to take up the space from the streach of the cable. S o all you need to do is stand the jacket of the cable off from the hood latch mechinsam to jacket didn't streach the cable did and free up the striker on the hood latch its sticking and caused this whole problem

Hood latch will not close all the way

Hi,

Grab a flashlight and a long screwdriver and peer straight down into the hood latch. You should see the end of the hood cable, it's looped in to a metal bracket. Have a helper pull and let go the hood release cable from inside the car, this cable should move to the when pulled, and return when released.

If it doesn't return, the cable is stretched, or a spring is broken from the cable assembly. Here's a quick fix:

Facing the car and using the screwdriver, push the bracket to your left as far as you can. This resets the latch. Drop the hood from about 2-3 feet above the latch. You need to close it with a bit of speed or the release mechanism will just move. It might take a few times of moving the cable and dropping the hood to get it to latch.

Permanent fix is to replace the cable.

1998 dodge neon hood latch broken, can't open the hood. any suggestions on fixing it

use a coat hanger and go through grill and hook the hood latch. you can also lay under front of car with a few extensions and a rachet, and take out the bolts that hold hood latch. if both fail. remove grill if possible to get to hood latch. good luck !!

Hood release wont latch

replace hood release cable or lubricate the cable to free it up.
In the mean time, push the cable back in and see if that helps.

How much does it normally cost to fix a "broken hood release lever"

just the lever?? not much at all. The hood cable--about an hour to an hour1/2 labor plus parts. or are you talking about the hood latch?--that isnt to hard either but may be a little more expensive for the part. Just the inside lever shouldnt cost more than $50 for parts and labor

The hood release on my 1993 chevy lumina snapped. the lever seems to have snapped from inside the car since it isnt attatced anymore. how much will this cost to fix at a shop?

YOU CAN FIX IT EASILY AT HOME IF IT IS JUST THE HANDLE. THE CABLE WOULD REQUIRE ABOUT 1-1.5 HOURS LABOR TO REPLACE SO DONT PAY MORE THAN THAT.
