I changed engines in my 1989 4runner and installed a 22re out of a 94 4x4 toyota pickup , there is a few hoses that were missing on the drivers side closer to the firewall. one in particular that has a connection for two hoses go somewhere. Plus since installing the engine in my 4runner it runs too rich and is smoking. not sure if vacuum hoses would cause this but any help would be appreciated.

THIS is normal on a lot of import engines. you have a pcv valve that pulls vacuum on engine to **** out gases. when you remove the cap it is like a vacuum leak. if engine runs fine otherwise it is normal.
SOURCE: i need a diagram of the vacuum hoses for 1994 toyota 22re.
if there is an library near you there you can get a diagam of how they should go and if not if there is a place were you can get a fax you could call a toyota dealer in the part department and they could fax them to you.

HI! The other thing that controls the fuel is the PCM (powertrain control module). The PCM is like the car's brain that when it fails everything else's fail. The PCM has connectivity on all electrical current that runs inside the car including the engine and transmission. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

When was last healthy tune up? Plugs, wires, ALL fluids & filters? I'd start there, then check tire pressures to make sure they're up.
Testimonial: "My tire pressures were extremely low, like 10 psi. Like driving through sand everywhere i went. Thanks for the helpful feedback."
