Hi,
My girlfriends 1999? Diesel Freelander is using or losing a little water.
Last summer it suddenly started to overheat, but when taken into the garage they couldnt get it to do it again.
Later the waterpump was replaced.
Now she has the idea that it runs a little hotter than before, but it is definately loosing or using half a litre of water every month or so.
Any ideas?
First thing radiator checked?
Head-gasket?
SOURCE: freelander wont start grrrr
This is really one of them that you can spend hundreds and still miss the problem. This is the order that things need to be checked. Start cheap first. But before anything, hook a fuel gauge to the fuel rail and let it run but keep and eye on the pressure. Any eratic movements of the gauge would put the blame on the fuel pump of filter. And have the timing checked. with high miles will need new timing belt. It wouldnt hurt to have a compression test done too. Also is there exhaust coming from the tail pipe adiquitly if not then your catalytic converter is stoped up or about to.
This list does not mean go buy all that. Its just check points for now.
1 air cleaner
2 fuel filter
3 PCV valve
4 throttle sensor.
5 crank and cam sensors
6 MASS airflow sensor
7 spark plug and wires.
sorry for the long to do list but like i said this is one of them probs that could be many things.
SOURCE: freelander diesel is losing water but not
is there any water coming out the exhaust when driving under load if so the head or head gasket has gorn Lindz
SOURCE: White smoke and engine cutting out
It sounds like the cylinder head gasket, or even a cracked head. You must go back to the repair shop.
SOURCE: Freelander 1.8, 2001 model. Cuts out on idle. With a small, but
good day, you might wanna check on the mass air flow sensor, it determines how much fuel is to be supplied. hope this helps, have a nice day
