It will start but does not stay running
Could be several things.
Someone will need to find out if you are loosing spark to the plugs or fuel to the injectors when it dies. If the pump stops running it could be a fuel pump relay. If the ignition system dies it could be a faulty coil.
And so on.

Most likely the cable has stretched and the pedal is not staying in the full upright position. If it drops a little it will trigger the light. To be sure use a bungee cord and hold the e brake pedal firmly up so it can't move and see if your light stops flashing. If it does the cable needs to be adjusted. You can get an adjuster at any autoparts store. It is a J hook affair that fits over the cable, you tighten the nut and it draws the cable in and tightens it up. Hope this helps.
