SOURCE: 2002 gmc envoy xl front wheel bearing assy replace

take the wheel off, take the axle nut off, disconnect the spindle from the ball joint or joints, take the tie rod end out of the spindle and remove the spindle leaving the axle in the transmission. Now there is three bolts on the back of the spindle take theese out and beat the hub and bearing assy out. The new one wont be as hard to put in as the old one was to come out.

SOURCE: ABS light won't go off

Any chance you damaged or moved wheel speed sensor, or got grease or something on it? I'd check that & make sure, (compare to opposite side) it's clean & spaced same from wheel as other.

SOURCE: how do u replace a front wheel bearing on a 2005

Remove center hub cap. Remove large nut behind hub cap.Lift wheel assembly off ground. Remove wheel. Remove brake calipher assembly by taking out larger bolts from back of calipher. Remove brake rotor. Pull axle toward middle of vehicle, you may have to tap axle end with small hammer being careful not to damage threads on end of axle. Remove three bolts from back, bearing housing should come out to the front.

My friend has a 2003 GMC Envoy and we replaced the wheel bearings and noticed the brake pads needed to be replaced after replacing the pads the front driver side wheel is getting very hot.

Pretty decent exchange ... so far!

First...
"Shimming" is between the hub and the rotor
to re-center the worn rotor. I have found "shims"
to be every bit as expensive and labor intensive
as REPLACEMENT rotors...

Discussing SHIMs further lends them respectability.
They ARE NOT the proximate cause of your
immediate trouble... Nor would be your rotors

Just to PROVOKE thoughts a little further...

(In my opinion)

If the BRAKE FLUID was not COMPLETELY
FLUSHED & Replaced at required intervals:

Those BRAKE CALIPERs are MOST LIKELY
the cause of your troubles. Corrosion forms
when WATER accumulates in the BRAKE FLUID.

Pistons no longer move FREELY...

Caliper repair kits (on rockauto) are incredibly
inexpensive... 2003 GMC ENVOY 5 3L V8 Caliper Rockauto

Calipers start at about $50 and rise with your
needs, dreams & aspirations.

Hope this helps.

HOW DO YOU REPLACE THE LEFT FRONT DIFFERENTIAL BEARING ON A 2004 GMC ENVOY

This requires you nearly overhaul the entire differential minus the ring and pinion, all bearing must be replaced as the metal from the failed one has damaged the others three bearings and they will fail shortly. This job requires many special tools including a hydraulic press, remove the entire unit and have a shop rebuilt it to save money.

I am currently deployed to afghan, and my wife took our envoy in to get new tires and new shocks put in, but there was still a noise coming from the front, the mechanic said it was the bearings, what...

He's probably talking about the wheel bearings located in the front hubs. They can wear out over time and cause a humming sound as well as vibration. Any brake shop will look at the truck for a free brake inspection. If they determine it's just a wheel bearing, it shouldn't be a big ticket job.

I am getting a definite road hum off the front of my 2003 Envoy. when I rotated tires it seemed to quiet it but than returned. I suspect wheel bearings but it doesn't get louder when turning the wheel...

Usually this is a sign that you need an alignment. Do previous front tires show any wear on the corners? My guess is that the noise returned when the new front tires "broke in".
